in case you don't make it over to the lounge very often, we have confirmed that BLUE newborns dipes are in our future!
i have been waiting and waiting and waiting to learn how to sew newborn fitteds until i knew whether or not i could use all the gorgeous pink fabrics i have. (sigh. they are so pretty.) so i will now be keeping my eyes out for more gorgeous BLUE fabrics.
and please send me any tips you have on sewing fitteds! i am terrified of elastic!!!!!!!!! i don't want to buy a pattern in case i sell them eventually. (right now just sewing for me- for when CD-clueless MIL comes to help!) but i need to take an elastic sewing class! i am terrible at it!

sorry, my sewing machine is still waiting for me to learn how to use it. But I had to say, "Congrats!" So exciting. Maybe if you eventually sell fitted, I'll buy some pink ones from you. :)

Congrats on the Blue!
I am only a beginner sewer, but I have a couple of sites with instructions for sewing fitteds. I keep thinking I'm going to try this someday. This one talks about how to hold and sew the elastic: http://www.home.earthlink.net/~sukumaran/NaturalParenting/AIO.htm
And, I found info on sewing elastic waistbands: http://www.fabricsandbuttons.com/prudence/elastic_waistbands.html
Like I said, I haven't tried this yet, but would love to!

The biggest tip I have is to NOT cut the elastic until you have it sewn in. Working with a longer peice makes it so much easier.
congrats!!

do you sew your elastic to every layer of fabric? or do you sew it to only one layer and then sew the other layers to the elastic layer? if you sew it to all, does it still stretch/bunch like it is supposed to? and if you sew it to one layer, how to you sew the other layers onto that one when it has already bunched up???

Congratulations Liza! We're all "tickled blue" for you :) Wish I could offer some insight into sewing diapers, but alas, I am but a mere beginning sewer as well.
