DS is 2.5, and he's still getting serious diaper rash the minute we don't use a barrier cream. Specifically, I use almost exclusively Triple Paste, and it works really well. I also use Aveeno now and then, and that works fine, too. The first, and I mean very first, time I don't put any cream on, he gets a bad diaper rash if I don't change him the minute he needs to be changed. Pee, poop, doesn't matter. Am I the only one? Cuz daycare, while not annoyed or telling me no, thinks I'm overdoing it. I told them, I don't care, do it, and they're doing it. I've tried several times to stop, but no approach is working other than to continue. We're in the beginning stages of potty training, but until we're there, this seems like what we have to do. Just wondering if this sounds like anyone else, too.

Hey Fairy, the only thing I can think of is that it's something in his diet? My DD gets horrible rashes after eating spicy food (whether or not she has a BM...sorry if TMI). Does DS eat citrus fruits or drink OJ alot? Hope you figure out what's causing the rashes.

Thanks, Sarah! Actually he's not as big a citrus eater as he is veggies. No juice generally. He loves fruit, and he does have alot of pineapple, actually. But it's not consistent like every day or eveyr week, so I'm just stumped. I'll start paying close attn to what he's regularly eating and see if I can make a connection. Thanks!

Maybe its the bleach or other chemicals in the diapers? My son who we pretty much exclusively CD'd for 2.5 years couldn't wear any sposies for a long time, he got a red butt with one dipe! Eventually we tried the Seventh Generation ones, which don't have bleach (do have the gel, though), and he could tolerate those fine.
