So I just signed up and bid on an item and immediately got my email about the credit - but when I click on the link it says to click on to validate my paypal, it takes me to a USCensus website???? Did this happen to anyone else? Where is the link supposed to take you?

It happenned to my friend too. Try adding:

http://www.unwiredbuyer.com

in front of the link that is in your verification request email. I think they forgot to include that part in front of the current link which begins "cgi..."

It worked for her so its worth a try.

ETA: Never mind! I don't know what I did differently, but it worked!

This is what is happening to me as well, but the link starts with
http:///cgi-bin and just pasting the above in front of it didn't work, nor did eliminating the http:/// and replacing it with one backslash. Any ideas? I wrote to support, but they say it could take 72 hours to respond!

So I did the unwired buyer thing last week and today I get an email saying my account password has been compromised and that I should change it. I try to log on to Ebay and its says my info is invalid. I try to change my password, but it is now saying my user ID is invalid. I haven't used Ebay in a long time except for this unwire buyer thing, so now I am paranoid.

Anyone else having issues?

Yup, it happened to me too. I just used the Ebay Live Chat in their help pages and they were able to get the problem resloved for me. they told me that they had scrambled my password and then they changed it, emailed it to me (after I had changed my email address password) and then I went into my ebay account and changed it again.

The more I think about it, I'm wondering if this happened because Unwired Buyer is so new. Perhaps Ebay was just being on its guard, and that's a good thing.

I too did Ebay chat and have been able to get my account back working. I asked them about Unwired Buyer and they said they never heard of them before. I emailed Unwired Buyer to tell them about my experience and asked them to cancel my account. Haven't heard back yet.

Yep. Yesterday I received an email saying that ebay was concerned that my account had been "compromised". (It is a legit ebay email). I didn't see any activity that was weird on my account, but I did change all of my passwords. I emailed ebay for more info, but haven't received any response yet. I never received my $20 from Unwired and they have yet to respond to my email to delete my account.

I just sent in my complaint to them yesterday and haven't heard back yet, but has anyone who complained previously actually heard back?

I received an email yesterday saying that I would get my $20 in PayPal in 24-48 hours. Haven't seen it yet. But I bet they will follow-through on the cancellation of my account (which I emailed them as soon as I received the fraud email from ebay). Btw, something I realized - unwired immediately noticed that I changed my ebay password and emailed me about it. Why would they need access to my password if I don't have any business with them right now (ie. not watching any auctions or need them to bid on anything?). I belong to an auction sniper service and they didn't email me about my password switch. Something is fishy about this....

Here's a Reuters article on eBay that quotes the CEO of UnWired Buyer.

I guess it makes me feel slightly better that the company has enough credibility to be quoted in an article on eBay.

Interesting article. That DOES make me feel better - however it's still strange that eBay immediately sensed that our passwords had been "compromised". And it is frustrating that UnwiredBuyer isn't responding to my complaint/questions...

I feel sooo bad that I gave this link out, since everyone has been having soooo many problems! :( SORRY

Funny though, I haven't had any problems nor have I gotten an email from ebay saying that my acct or anything has been compromised....I haven't even gotten any unwired buyer solicitation email....for me it was a clean transaction!

Again, I'm sooooooooooooo sorry that everyone's had problems :(

I feel sooo bad that I gave this link out, since everyone has been having soooo many problems! :( SORRY

Funny though, I haven't had any problems nor have I gotten an email from ebay saying that my acct or anything has been compromised....I haven't even gotten any unwired buyer solicitation email....for me it was a clean transaction!

Again, I'm sooooooooooooo sorry that everyone's had problems :(

Please don't feel bad- I was hoping that you wouldn't. Nothing has happened to my Ebay account- I actually think it is more of a glitch and that all is ok with Unwired. Hey, we all got $20 out of it!

Don't feel bad - I think it was just a random few pf us and I am not sure it was even a warranted "compromised account" warnign from ebay, just a little weird timing maybe. I did just get my $20 yesterday, so not all was bad :)

I didn't have any problems either. I got my $20 yesterday. I did, however, change all my account passwords BEFORE signing up for unwiredbuyer.com so as soon as I got my $20 I just changed my passwords back to my original ones. So THANKS for posting!

Okay so i finally got the compromised account message today and it has been over 2 weeks since i used the unwired buyer thing....now they want me to update my billing info it says my most recent seller fee payment wasn't received (although paypal shows it was)....hmmm the email looks fully legit but when you click the "click here link" it takes you to a ebay sign in page (exactly like the real on) but the http addy is different. PLEASE BE AWARE!!
I didn't use it and I logged into my account through ebay.com and it looks like there are no messages etc telling me my acct was compromised. I greatly enjoyed the free $20!
The hassle isn't really a big deal because I love free stuff, I just want everyone to be aware that the email link DOES NOT take you to the real ebay sign in on the email. (atleast not on the one i received)

Real emails from Ebay will not ask you to click on a link to change any account info. Ebay will always tell you to log into your account and there will be a copy of the email in your Ebay messages. The email I got saying my account had been compromised was real from Ebay but did not ask me to click on a link - just to log in to my account.

Unwired Buyer sent me a survey good for another $10 in pp, but the e-mail showed up in my junk folder. Just wanted to pass this info along to let others know that they might have the same e-mail - so don't forget to check your junk folders!!

Thanks again Kristine!

I finally got an email back from Unwired Buyer abot what happened to my Ebay account. This was their response:

"That was caused by a problem on Ebays end. They had a server issue that caused them to flag a bunch of our transactions. You can read on Ebays website about their partnership with us so its obvious we arent scamming anyone. I can still cancel your service if you like. Just let me know. "
