Has anyone ever tried to use Medela horn/tubing on a Ameda or vice-versa?
I have a PIS, and can buy a PY though work at a substantial discount. So I'm considering buying the PY and leaving one of the pumps at work. However, I have a ton of spare horns for the PIS, and would prefer to not have to buy extra Ameda parts.
TIA!

I'm pretty certain that the answer is no. They are pretty different systems.

I have both but have never tried interchanging the parts. I leave the PIS at work and the PY at home.
In THEORY, if the sizing of the tubes is the same you could just use everything from the tubes out for the PIS on the PY (you'd have to take off the yellow connector thingies on the PIS tubes though) but not sure how good a seal you'd get. Plus it would then not give you the "advantage" of the hygenikit the PY system has (to keep out bacteria, tubes never need cleaning, pump has resale value, etc.). The PIS horns themselves (w/o the tubing IF the tubes even fit) would definitely not fit onto the PY - it's an entirely different setup.

Thanks for the info, ladies. You confirmed my suspicions.
Lynne, do you find it worthwhile to have 2 pumps? And do you have a reason for using the PIS at work vs the PY? I'm not sure if I should splurge on a second pump and extra parts or not...
Thanks
