Hi,
My DD started on solids around 4 1/2 months and did pretty well on carrots, sweet potatoes and winter squash (Earth's Best). She is now almost 7 1/2 months old. Suddenly it seems like she is not able to handle the carrots and it seems to be because it is not as smooth as the other ones. She gags and immediately throws up (she is not sick otherwise). But she had abosulutely no probs with the carrots earlier. I tried Tender Harvest since I thought it was a little bit smoother than EB..she ate a little, but threw up by the time I gave half the small jar.
I don't know what to do since I already have few choices of veggies (she threw up peas too and the other day scared me by almost throwing up winter squash!!). I am sure what I make at home will have even more texture. I tried spinach made at home yesterday..she threw up that too. In general I have noticed that she gags even if it has slightly more texture than her smooth foods. She does fine with fruits. She eats oatmeal cereal with fruit in the morning and is fine with that too. I try to give her veggies in the evening and thats when we have a problem. I am worried that I will keep giving fruits at this rate!! Is it really wrong to do that?
Can someone help? Is this something they will outgrow as they get more teeth(she has 2 teeth now)? Should I continue to try giving the same foods irrespective of whether she throws up? Will she learn eventually by me doing that or would it be incorrect to keep giving the culprit foods? I am worried that I will have to give her finely blended smooth food all the time. Please tell me it will change!
