Whoops. I forgot about the nitrates, and I made dd spinach today. It was the frist veggie she's seemed to like, so I hate to abandon it. It's organic, at least...anyone else with an infant (under 12 mos) feed spinach without worrying about it?

Thanks!
Jude

Hi Jude,

I asked my ped about spinach at 9 months and she said it was fine in my area (Texas) - I'd just check with your doc.

My son loves spinach and ate lots of fresh veggies.

Take care,

We introduced spinach by itself sometime around 10 months, but I'm pretty sure she had it mixed with other veggies at an earlier age. We didn't worry about it. I'm glad you found a veggie she likes. :)

Melissa, I keep meaning to tell you and just haven't gotten to it - Sarah's avatar is really beautiful. She must be a gorgeous baby. :)

Awww, how sweet of you to say. Thank you. I actually posted the picture by accident (I wasn't aiming for the covered mouth look) but thought it was cute, so I kept it up. That was last October though, so it's probably time for a new one.

I loved seeing the pics of Riordan in RL--aren't the curls so much fun? :)

I would not be too concerned b/c of the following reasons. From what I have read, nitrates begin to be digested by babies after 6 months. Also, organic food theoretically should not have high concentrations of nitrates.

I got a really low yield when I made spinach from baby salad spinach, and plan to use about a tablespoon per serving...but to answer your question in my spinach receipe post...I have not served it to DD...just froze it for next week.

Did you know Earth's best makes spinach and potatoes combo? I got a few jars of that b/c I dont find it to be that economical to make homemade spinach, at least not from the prepackaged salad spinach. Maybe I should search for "regular" spinach?
