I'm so saddened. I heard this news yesterday...DH is in grad school at UNC.

This young woman was always in the campus paper because she was the student body president. So while we didn't know her, we knew of her. I heard yesterday that there was a murder, and they were looking for details. I was absolutely shocked when today I saw that it was her.

As a parent, these things really seem so different to me. It was always tragic, but now as a parent I try to put myself in her parents' place and it is just so horrifying.

Please say a prayer or keep this young woman's family in your thoughts.

She was such a rising star with so much ahead of her.

So sad.

It is so awful. :( A colleague sent the news to our staff (at another ACC university) this afternoon.

I couldn't get this out of my head last night. THe thought of being a parent and getting that phone call is just chilling. She had so much ahead of her and was such a bright and rising star.

Chapel Hill is such a beautiful and amazing community. I'm so shocked that this happened, and I'm so shocked that a young woman was taken from this life so soon in such a tragic and horrible way.

I graduated from UNC and this just breaks my heart. I am so sad. Seeing all of the students gathered on the quad and in the Pit just made me cry. I was there when the law student went down Franklin Street shooting and killed 2 people, one of whom was a student that I had met. What a huge loss, not only to her family but to everyone who knew her. It is hard to think of college students as "innocent" but I know this has stolen the innocence of many.

As a mommy it definitely makes you want to keep your kids a little closer.

I know how you feel. This happened less than a mile from my house. DC and I played at the Community Center Park yesterday, which has a beautiful wooded trail leading to where her body was found. I'll be praying for her family, friends, our community, and the other students probably paralyzed by sadness and fear, away from their families.

Oh, that's so sad! These types of things used to make me sad, but now that I'm a parent, it just seems so much more horrible. :(

Tragic news - it sounds like she was such an outgoing, vibrant young woman - who knows what incredible potential she had for the future?

It's frightening to realize that this could happen in our community.

I hope her family and friends will be surrounded with love and support in this difficult time.
