DDs have had a cold for about 5 days now. It has changed over from constant runny nose to just a cough. The cough sounds pretty dry not phlegmy (ew, even a gross word!), and not in the chest. Since cough meds don't work, I don't know how to calm it, especially at night!

We have humidifiers in their rooms (cool mist, never quite caught the difference with warm mist, so this is probably the wrong one to have...), give them decongestant only at night, raised DD2's crib where her head is and gave DD1 an extra pillow.

Any other thoughts?? tia

If your DDs are over one year old, it's how being suggested to give them honey for nighttime cough. I think the honey is supposed to coat their throat and help relieve the cough. Don't give under one year old because of the risk of botulism. HTH.

DD1 is 4.5 and DD2 2.5... but I think the last time I asked the ped she said not to do honey yet. Hmmm, maybe DD2 was under 2 at that time. We tried it last night for DD1 and it seemed to work, at least for a while.
