View Full Version : Any recs for mama cloth for pp bleeding?

I posted a few days ago about using my diva cup for pp bleeding. It doesn't seem that anyone has actually done this before, and because of the increased risk of infection after delivery, it seems like I should use something else for at least the first week or so. I HATE maxi-pads. I don't like the smell, the feel of bleeding with them on, or the plasticky feel next to my skin. I have CD before, but have never used any mama cloth. I could possibly see myself using some cloth liners with my diva cup (once my regular menses resume), but know I would need something heavier for pp bleeding. I don't want to buy a lot of them, nor do I want to spend a ton of money on something with some limited use. I checked out the recommended site - Homemade Mama - but her stuff seems hard to get and not exactly cheap. Are there any other recs? Anyone used anyone on etsy? I see several with a "mama cloth" search, but am wary of buying without any recommendations. Or, should I just go ahead and try to get some from Homemade mama?

Thanks for your help.

I was one of the posters who recommended Homemade Mama, and I got mine through a co-op. I just emailed the WAHM to ask if she was doing co-ops anymore and she pointed me to one that was open. Might be worth a try! I wouldn't have been able to pay full retail for as many as I bought otherwise.

My heavy-duty mama cloth was from Jen Backus. I don't think she's sewing currently, but I could be wrong.

I have had very good experiences with Retro Rags Wisconsin:

They have stuff in stock (easy to get) and the prices are affordable- just $7 for a pp pad vs the $10-15+ I have seen elsewhere. I use the pads and liners and love them. Not fancy, but gets the job done and folds and snaps nicely. The liners are just a couple bucks each.

ETA - Oops, I went back and reread your post and realized you were looking for something different, sorry!

Another vote for HomemadeMama http://homemademama.com/MamaPads.html! You have to pounce on her stuff when she puts them up on Hyena cart though, they are gone within hours. On her blog she usually says when she's going to restock.
