View Full Version : I should know this, but....
We finally had to move DD from her Safeseat to a RF MA. Right now it's behind the driver in an Odyssey. DS is FF and is behind the passenger b/c his chair is pushed towards the center. I can't remember if it is ok to have a RF carseat behind the driver if their will be multiple drivers who move the seat back and forth and the seat is tethered? The seat is tethered to the metal bar under the plastic cover beneath the seat. I drive the Odyssey and DH and my father both drive it about 2x a week each. They will be moving the seat further back than it is set for me.
Thanks

Ideally the seat would not be RF tethered to a moving part. If you did decide to RF tether to a part that would move w/ the driver's seat (remember Britax instructs you to RF tether to a nonmoving part), you would have to make sure that the installation tightness and angle were correct everytime the seat was moved backward or forward.
The bar doesn't move. It is below the piece that moves under the plastic casing (that I had to remove to get to the bar). However, the seatback pushes on the tether strap as the seat moves back. That is actually what I was concerned about.

Do you think the pressure of the seat on the RF tether will wear on the tether and/or affect the seat's recline angle? If so, then it's probably not ok. If not, then you should be alright.
I have to see how much further DH and my father move the seat back. I wonder if each time we loosen the tether, move the seat and then tighten the tether? Of course, it is probably easier to just move DS to that position and DD to behind the passenger seat.
