Thinking about starting potty training my older boy soon. Do the Hanna training unders ever go on sale? If not, are they really worth the price? and will I use the same ones with both boys or will they get too gross to use again. I am new to this whole potty training world, so forgive the questions. Oh, one more--any less expensive suggestions?
Thanks!

I got some on sale during the Dec. sale last year. Then, I caught another pack on sale closer to when we needed them in March. Maybe the second pack was at the outlet. Wish I'd just bought them all at one time. We lived with 6 pair, but DH does laundry 2x/week. They were $10 for a 3pack, IIRC. I think the price went up this year, so I wouldn't expect them to be quite that cheap. You can call the outlets to see if they have any on sale.
Full-price? I'd say yes, probably. You're going to have to buy pull-ups if not, and these are cheaper than 2 pack of those, right? I never got pull-ups until we were done, but I can't imagine throwing away a 45-50 cent "diaper" every time DD had a leak in the process. Throwing them in with the wash with the rest of the clothes was simple.
Honestly, DD's training unders look brand new. There is absolutely nothing wrong with them. We didn't stain treat, take special care or anything. DS will use them and think they are new, as long as he is wearing the same size when he PTs. We got the "boy colors" which are darker and one pack of white ones.
No ideas about less expensive options. I loved these so much. That's weird to say about underwear that gets #1 and 2. ick
ETA: oh yeah, friends who use the Gerber ones have told me they always end up changing the pants as well as the unders. These are so absorbent you only (usually) need to change the unders. We did the reg. undies as back up like citymama suggests.

We had a pack and used them for a day. They weren't a good investment for us. We PTed pretty easily and late (3 years old).

They are very soft and thick. I had one pack and couldn't imagine spending any more on short term undies for a kid. I also bought the cheap Gerber training underwear and preferred those because they weren't as thick and DD was much more uncomfortable in them wet compared to the Hanna's.

Yes, Hanna training pants do go on sale, and IMO, they are fabulous! We started PTing our daughter about 6 months ago - even though she was "trained" (roll of eyes!) around 4 months ago, we continue to use them because they are thicker and warmer than regular unders, do a better job keeping clothes dry in case of minor accidents (eg they start going pee but stop themselves right away - with regular unders, you can end up with wet pants even with a little pee), and for girls anyway, they provide better coverage under dresses. I highly recommend them.
We have 2 sets of 3 - I got the first set at about $10.50 + shipping and the second a few weeks later for $7, both from the Hanna Michigan City outlet. I found 6 to be a good number (with another 6 pairs of regular Hanna unders as back-up). Try the outlets - you may need to call a few of them, and ask for discounted sets - sometimes they're trying to clear our old stock to make room for new. HTH!

Oooohhhh....we LOVED these. Actually DD has been potty trained for a year and a half and still loves to wear these. I think they give such nice coverage and the extra padding is probably nice on the playground slides, etc.
They look terrific after 2 years of use, and I can honestly say that I would have no trouble using them for DS. They are in excellent condition. So...for us they were a great investment.
Good luck! :)

My ds loved them so much he wore them as underwear long after he'd potty trained. I think they were worth it. They never wore out, but he finally outgrew them.

We loved them, and even at full price they were worth it to us.
Having to do it all over again, o'course, I'd be calling the outlets to see if they had any to sell/ship to me.

I got several three packs for $5, cheaper than the gerber ones! we love them here, wish we bought more. The sale I am referring to happened back in June but might be coming back soon....

I have one pack of HA, they are really thick so we use them for long car rides and preschool. For a month we went though a phase where DD was lazy at home so we had many, many, many underwear changes a day. Bought a ton of the Gerber ones (Target and BRU), not as thick as the Hanna ones but fine for home! She is finally doing better so I am glad I didn't spend too much on the Hanna ones.
Love them for DS. Still using them long after training because they still fit. Hope to use for DS2 in the future. Due to price I switched to Hanna and Gymbo post training. Then there was less interested in the plain white underwear, so I took a laundry sharpie and drew a train on the tag, now they are the secret train unders. I made up a story about the secret trains...Now that DS can read numbers and a few letters he reads me the size and if the tag says "name" and then announces they must be Hanna if they say name on the tag! So cute.

I was pretty unimpressed with the training unders. They're not very thick/absorbent, so they're only good for catching a little pee, not a full blown accident. And they're not stretchy around the legs at all, so the XS's were way too tight around the legs, and the S's gapped terribly.
The regular unders are great, though!
