DS has been potty trained since August. Has not had an accident since September. Suddenly he has had accidents every day for a week. He says he "doesn't feel like using the toilet, it is ok to pee in my pants" -- UM.
I was away for work Mon-Wed (it started Tues). I do travel every couple of weeks so not a big deal. He has had a minor cold but nothing horrible. He really seems to think it is ok. He is in preschool for most of the day and today came home with wet pants -- he said he was in gym and didn't feel like telling a teacher he had to go potty.
Thoughts?

Maybe I am being naive, but I think this is usually about wanting attention, probably from you. Has anything distracted you lately so you might not be spending quite as much time with him?
Also, is he drinking more liquids than usual?

DS1 is the same age and potty trained since July. Although he isn't having accidents, he will wait FOREVER to go and then needs to go RIGHT NOW! He just doesn't want to stop playing, doing what he's doing, until he has to. Maybe that is what is going on and he doesn't care that he gets wet.

When DH's brother was little and potty trained he got sick. (a cold or flu or something) While he was sick he had an accident and was really upset about it and MIL told him "It's okay that you wet your pants. It was an accident and accidents happen."
Well, for the next year whenever he didn't feel like using the restroom he would pee himself and tell MIL "It was an accident and accidents happen mommy"
Perhaps he had an accident earlier this week while you were away and someone at daycare told him "it was okay"
It seems to me that he got the "it's okay to pee myself" idea from someone. They probably meant it like my MIL but it was taken literally.
Now that DD is born I keep hearing this story again and again. MIL says "make sure you never tell J it's okay if she has an accident". Well, I don't know what I will do or how I will handle the situation but I do worry about MIL trying to punish (spank) DD if she has an accident. eh! sorry this is turning into a hijack. I'll shut up now :)

DS had been potty trained for a while, but then he started waiting so long to go to the bathroom that he would wet himself. After this happened numerous times, I finally told him that if it happened again, I was putting him back in pull-ups. That did the trick. No way did he want to go back to pull-ups! All of this happened a while back, but DS still remembers it.
