Has their big January sale started yet?

I'm thinking of heading over tomorrow, but not sure if the big sale is on yet. I'm considering just buying stuff now and hoping the sale happens in the next 14 days if it's not on already...

Just wondering the same thing. I need some $1.99 fleece sleepers, but I couldn't find any on their site when I just looked.

. . . I am assuming it will be a couple of weeks yet. The last two years I think it was mid-January.

No good news here.
I asked the mgr at my store on 12-31. She said "they" (corporate?) had discussed doing that sale again and decided against it.

ooh, bummer. I was looking foward to that sale. I might still go tomorrow, just with tempered expectations!

Call your store, they seem to do different sales at different stores. My friend from the Bay Area got a bunch of stuff for $5, but when we went to my Flagstaff, AZ store there was nothing good.

I went to ON 2 days ago and there is tons of clearance in my store. I really hope that it at least gets marked down further if they are not going to do the sale this year.

i think they are having 75% off online.

I went today, and the deals were not special at all. I did see a couple s/s screenprinted shirts for girls for $2.49, but the boys sweats were $6.99 and the fleece pajamas were $8.99. I thought those were full retail price!

The lady at ours said they did markdowns in the kids dept. today, but to call back in a week and see if anything was marked down more.

My friend went today and said they were starting to mark stuff down. They also told her they weren't doing the extra 50% off because the last time they did it, it didn't move much merchandise, which is surprising to me (the not moving merch part)!

WatchingThemGrow
01-05-2009, 03:46 PM
LOL didn't move much merchandise??? I had 5 large bags of clothes in my living room. Granted, I only kept 3.5 bags, but STILL!

01-05-2009, 04:04 PM
Oh, that's absurd for them to say that. Every time I've gone to that sale (at least 3 times now) I've purchased at least two large bags stuffed full, and there were many other customers doing the same.

I seem to recall that there have been other times that they claimed they weren't going to do it, but then ultimately they did. So I'm still crossing my fingers that will happen.

Just went to Old Navy yesterday and still no major markdowns. There was plenty of inventory and not a soul in the store. The clearance section has no real deals to speak of. Bummer. Hope the big sale happens soon!

I'm late to this, but I went the day after Christmas and the store was packed with merchandise, there were almost no shoppers at all, and they had signs up about their storewide clearance with small type that said "on select merchandise" :rolleye0014:

I couldn't believe how much stuff they had and how few people were shopping. They need to wake up and mark down LOL.

Forgot to post that...I asked at one of our stores the other day and the lady claimed to know nothing about any big sale still. I grilled her with every question I could since she was kinda rolling her eyes, acting like she had something better to do than talk with a customer. When I finally asked what day of the week their big sales always happen, she said "Fridays." I should have kept on provoking her so I could get another customer service gift card for service with an attitude ;)

Our store was running the 50% off the clearance prices sale today until the 19th. Not much selection. I was hoping to find more fleece or some sort of lined pants but nothing just regular pants. Only one Old Navy is our area is supposedly running this sale...I didn't check out the other stores but that's what the store near me told me. I got a few things for new baby girl and a few tops for DSs.

Really disappointing...2 area Old Navy stores started their sales today. Stopped by one and the selection was very scarce, especially the children's section. Not like last year's sale. Hopefully the other store will be better.

My Sacramento, CA area store says it starts on Friday. I don't have big expectations, but will go check it out. I got a ton of stuff in the past at ON, but my DD never wore it much because Old Navy doesn't seem to fit her well. We get much more bang for the buck at Gymboree where she often wears things for 2 seasons. We did like some hoodies I got last year so who knows.

Neither of ours have the stacks and stacks of merchandise they had last year. Our sale hadn't started when I went in a day or two ago. But, really, like 6 pairs of fleece pajamas - some 6-12 month and a couple pairs of 5T.

Has anyone else noticed ONs quality going way down hill? With 5 kids, I really can't afford to shop at many of the nicer places that I like for everyday basics, especially since my kids are so hard on their clothes. But unless I can get stuff on sale at ON, it rarely lasts through one kid to get passed on to the next anymore.

That said, I am still eagerly waiting for the 50% sale to start (if it does here - the SAs I talked to said it wasn't going to happen either) so I can score some deals. I can't believe they say they never moved anything. Every time I have gone I have walked out with at LEAST 2 large shopping bags STUFFED with kids stuff, and I always see people coming out with the same if not more. I am shocked at that comment!

Are you finding that Hannas at least will hold up through several kids? I agree with ON and some others, but I'm counting on our Hannas to make it through 3.

YES! Some of it is incredibly low-quality, doesn't hold up more than a few washes (especially the women's stuff IMO). The kids jeans seem to be fine.

I have never had any quality issues with ON. I don't pass mine through many kids though, I like to resell it.

I went to my store today and they said that the sale starts tomorrow. I am excited because they have tons and tons of clearance. I will be there bright and early. (Store located in mid-Michigan)

The sale started today at my store. The sign said January 16-19, but the salesperson said they had a lot of inventory to clear so they started early. Didn't really find anything in the kids section but scored big time for DH - long sleeve polos for $3.xx, half zip fleece for $4.xx. There was so much stuff it was hard to browse. I think I might go back tonight.

My store started yesterday too. Today, there was a LOT of inventory in the kids department, not so much in the maternity. However, prices were not that great. I found a few pieces for $3 each, but nothing fabulous.

I have major quality control issues with their knit shirts. I can't recall the line, but they are very thin (and comfy), something like, "comfort fit," BUT I ALWAYS end up with holes all over the front of the shirt after only a few washings! This only happens to me with ON shirts. So, I have stopped buying knit shirts from ON b/c of this. Oh and ON jeans SUCK! They fit great for like 10 min and then they become so stretched out, the literally fall off of you. I have never had this issue with any other brand of jeans, only ON. So, I no longer buy ON jeans or shirts. Mostly, I shop there now for my kids and DH.

I went to my Old Navy tonight, and it looked like they were gearing up. There were big big racks of well-organized baby/kids clearance in the back that I don't remember seeing before, and some other kids stuff throughout the store was marked on clearance too. However, it wasn't marked an extra percentage down yet. I didn't let that deter me, I bought a couple bigs bags and hope to get a price adjustment tomorrow or next week...

ETA: I couldn't agree more about the poor quality of ON women's clothing recently. I've had a couple bad sweater purchases. I haven't had trouble with kids stuff though, knock on wood.

i bought few winter things during their last sale as they were really cheap and i thought i would give them a try. i was really disappointed in the quality. i bought size xs for dd and it shrank a lot even when washed in cold water and dryed on low heat. so much for preschool clothes. :( just my 2 cents.

No, just bring the receipt and they will scan the UPC at the bottom and the register will automatically compute which items you would get credit back for. It's amazingly easy.

So, I got the girls each:
1 dress $6.xx
Jeans $6.xx
2 long sleeve shirts $2.xx each
1 legging $1.49
PJs $3.xx
Christmas T $1

Total was very close to $50, great stuff for next year!

Also got some great little items for baby gifts. They had the little Robeez-like shoes for $2.50 or so....and matching "monster" rattles for $1 (which I noticed after I bought have BUTTONS for eyes; WTH?)

Now I just need to go back and look at the grown up stuff.

Scored big time here! Lots of clothes for kiddos at my store. Didn't see much for adults, but still it was a worthwhile trip. 30 pieces for $81 out the door.

If a tag has an orange sticker with a reduced price it is half of that price. Some stuff was not marked "clearance", but anything with a discounted sticker rings up 50% off.

I'm going to go back tonight without DS and really look at clothes for me and DH.

Have fun shopping!

I also just got back from the store. There was tons for baby/kids and a limited amount the women/men. I was able to pick up some really cute girl things :) My store had quite a few toddler winter jackets left up to size 5T too. I got a frost free jacket for $14 and a hooded sherpa jacket for $9.24 for our little girl and also a new fleece pullover for my oldest ds for $3.49.

Love these sales :)

When I was at my store yesterday, the manager told me that I could buy stuff and bring my receipt back today for a PA. I opted to just wait until today. That is weird that it says that on the email.

I got back a little while ago. They had such awesome deals. I was trying not to go too crazy but I got 33 things for $63. Mostly tees and tanks for my girls, a few dresses and one pieces for the baby and one pair of shoes. My store did not have much in the way of pants or jeans. I am happy with what I found though. I also got a winter jacket for my oldest dd for next year. My store had tons of jackets in kids sizes, nothing for babies.

My best deal for sure, 3 pairs of pajamas for $1.99 each.

FYI-- you should be able to get a PA for the stuff you bought within the last 14 days. I bought some stuff 12 days ago and got my PA and the SA didn't bat an eyelash. Mainly got some long sleeves for next year for DS. Lots of stuff was picked over at the store but the SA said the extra 50% started 2 days ago and each store starts it differently.

Oooh, thanks for posting about this! I made a special trip. I have to say, I was really happy with how nicely things were laid out. All the sizes were together, hangers facing the right way, shirts and pants grouped together. I got three large bags of clothes for under $90. Mostly sweats, lined jeans, some printed henleys, and sweaters for my wannabe Cosby kid. Insane prices on long sleeve tees, for seventy nine cents (solid color, no obnoxious graphics.)

I was in the hunt for fleece footie pajamas, but not much luck there. There were a few hiding in babyland, but not the size I needed. I did get one 2T from the infant girls section in a nice red candy cane print. And the salesgirl was very helpful in looking around, even if we didn't find any.

Loved the prices, was happily surprised about the customer service, thought the quality of the women's stuff was dreadful.

Things were organized really nicely at my store too. It is not always the case, but the last few times I went there it has been much better.

These Old Navy stores must be some sort of mythological creature. I've never seen such a thing :D

In all seriousness, good for them for cleaning up. One of the major reasons I don't scope out their sales more often is that I can't deal with the disorganization. My local thrift stores are organized better.

I was a little disappointed, but then I did not make it to the store until two hrs ago. The selection was not very good. It was basically ALL girls stuff, very little boys stuff. They had a decent amt of men's stuff. I got a few maternity items for about $5 each or less, so I am going to return some stuff I got in late Nov (same exact things) and get my $ back, since it was so much cheaper to get it during this sale. I was really disappointed, they had GOBS of toddler/preschool pj's, but ALL girl sizes and for dirt cheap, like a $2.xx per pr! WTH??? Another mom of a boy was grumbling too that there was no good boy stuff.

I do have to say that the store was pristine and everything was actually organized by size and very neat. I was very, very impressed. Usually, the clearance section is trashed. Of course our store was also dead, thanks to the -15 degree weather...

They did my PA today with no questions asked. I am pretty excited about the deals, although I would have been more excited had there been any footie pj's at my store.

I bought two full bags yesterday but returned a half a bag today when I went in for my PA ... then bought two more bags today (all for DD and soon-to-be DS). There are a couple more things that I know I should return, but I'm afraid of what will happen in I set foot in the store again ;-)

Couldn't go until late today b/c I didn't have time so we went after dinner and DH stayed in the car with DC since they were tired. I thought the prices were higher than in past years and the selection was much worse. They did have the stuff organized by size but it's about time. Everytime I would do one of those surveys they print out with your receipt, I complained about the messy sale area and that people would buy more if they could see the clothes and find their size. I guess someone finally listened. I'm sure I wasn't the only one to complain.

I was bummed b/c I wanted to buy DC coats for next year and they had none left. I bought a few things in multiple sizes b/c I wasn't sure which one would fit so I'll be going to a different store to return what didn't work and look for more. Mostly I bought for DD. The boy pickins were slim as usual and so where the womens. I bought DH a bunch of pants but the shirt selection was lacking. DS got a couple of shirts and so did I.

I guess in some ways I should be happy the selection was poor since I didn't spend that much.

Bought 4 tops for myself for a grand total of $10! The women's section in our ON was well-stocked with stuff - I breezed in and out in about 15 minutes with 4 items I actually wanted at $2.50 apiece - what's not to like? The kids' section had slim pickings, except for girls' jeans, which they had loads of. My DD pretty much refuses to wear jeans, so I didn't stock up, but there were deals to be had at abut $5 a pair of jeans (after the discount).

I went yesterday afternoon and was also impressed with how things were organized, so I have to give a thumbs-up to ON.

The boys' section didn't have as much as girls' at ours either.

After placing an online order early this morning, I thought I would venture out to the B&M store. Although I had visions of unicorns, I sadly discovered the same disaster area of a clearance section. Undeterred, in 15 minutes flat (which is all the time I had before DD1's basketball game), I managed to fill two large shopping bags for $53. Not bad.

Online, items kept disappearing out of my cart at 6:30 EST so I went ahead and placed my order even though I planned a visit to the store. Note that I was able to use both a free ship code and the 50% off ON code. In the past, I did not think that you could stack Gap, ON or BR codes, but it worked. I may have some duplicates but will figure it all out when my order arrives. The B&M store was a better deal due to the extra $10 off of $50.

I am not a huge fan of ON generally, but at these prices I could not resist buying ahead on fleece, PJs and active wear for DC.
