Need some color ideas for a really small 1/2 bath. Sink and toilet are white; floor and 1/2 way up on the walls are a tannish porcelain (walls are pebbly look tan tile; floor is a gray/tan combo). Mirror is framed in a wooden "java" finish and there's a storage cabinet above the toilet in the same java color. When you walk into the bathroom the bathroom is approx 32" x 7 1/2" with the sink on one end and the toilet on the other.

I need some color ideas! DS mentioned red; needs to be something that'll look nice w/ the tannish tones - maybe shaker beige from Benjamin Moore? Or maybe the red will make the smallnish "pop?"

Must decide this weekend! Oh...and there's no window!

Try Restoration Hardware's Silver Sage (I think it's Benjamin Moore's Gray Wisp). Or some other really soft spa-like green. That would look pretty against your dark wood cabinet and your tan tile.

How about Tiffany blue?

since you already seem to have a palate of warm neutrals going in there, i'd stick with tone on tone. if you picked a neutral sandy color or a light warm grey you'd keep in the color palate you've got going while adding some interest to the room. i personally like lighter colors in small spaces, but YMMV. i'd also consider some white crown moulding to finish the space and tie in with the white lav and commode. i also think it makes a room look a bit bigger.

also, just a thought, have you looked into a solar tube (ie. solatube) for the room? they're actually surprisingly affordable (the kit only runs around $300 if you DIY the install), especially if you don't need to do a lot of joints/mirrors to get to the roof) and can add a ton of light to a small space. it's like a skylight, but it uses lenses to intensify light, even on a cloudy day, into a small tube.

I like this idea. This is probably what I would do.

Our powder room (1/2 bath) is a deep cranberry, some Benjamin Moore color that I can't remember the name of. It d/n make the room look smaller. The rest of the main floor is fairly neutral, with accents of deep cranberry and dark moss green.

My bathroom is painted RH Silver Sage, so I am partial to that color, but I think Lori's suggestions are really spot on about tone on tone.

Our builder painted our entire living area Mannered Gold by Sherwin Williams, our neighbors joked with us about it but it really grew on me since we had hardwood/tile and crown molding. I did eventually paint our 1/2 bath an olive green color, what I had left over from re-painting the dining room, just to have something different to look at. We've been here almost 2 years and the mannered gold had gotten old in the living room, it was just too dark, I repainted it Harmonic Tan by Sherwin Williams. Now I love that color, very close to what I had in my last house. My dad repainted his house after my mom passed away in Nov (it was baby blue, she smoked alot, the walls were stained, I guess he just wanted to change things) I told him about this color and he loved it, painted the den, hallway and bedrooms. We plan to move in 2-3 years and I'll repaint the living area that color, much everyone user friendly : ). Our builder used dark based colors in the entire house, I may just do the whole thing, lol. I would do it asap, but its hard to paint with 3 yr old twins.

I like a more natural/soothing wall color and you could always add pop with a picture or anything unique you can find to hang on the wall. I love when Hobby Lobby has great stuff on sale!!

I used a very pale, barely there "spa blue" in my small bathroom and it worked out well. I mixed it myself so I can't give you the color but I would just go to the palest blues or even the whites section to the blue tinted whites.

We had one that was Ironwood, which is a Laura Ashley color from Lowe's. I really like it. It is an earthy taupey/ slightly mauvery color.

We also have a sand colored bathroom which is called Cracker Bitz and it is a Home Depot brand paint.

I have a denim blue in our powder room now but the walls are white tile halfway up/

Love, love, love Benjamin Mooore's Glass Slipper. Goes beautifully with tans and whites, it is very soothing and yet somewhat contemporary. I used it in one of my bathrooms and love it.
