A few weeks ago I posted here about my DH and I going to the Brandywine Valley area of PA and DE to celebrate our 15th anniversary and his 40th b-day. This is where we are going to go, but we'd love to get your opinions on where to stay between these two places. If we stay in Chadds Ford, we were thinking of staying at the Fairville Inn. If we stay in Kennett Square, we were thinking of Kennett House Bed & Breakfast. Has anyone here stayed at either place or in either town? Is one nicer than the other?

TIA for your help!

Leslie

I have not stayed in either place--but I used to live in Kennett. Chadds Ford would be pretty and more rural. Kennett has restaurants and shops you can go to. CF does not really have a town center (unless they have built like crazy since I was there). Plus I don't know that I would want to navigate those back roads after wine with dinner :-)

The other issue is that if you are going soon/the spring--the Brandywine River can flood BIG time so you would want to be on the west side of it to still be able to go to Longwood etc. So Kennett would be better for that reason.
