Spinoff on the Ps and pigtails thread of a few days ago, what do you guys do about teeth brushing if you're out late and have DC in pajamas?
We're rarely out past bedtime, but there are certainly days where we do a lot of physical activity and drive back and the kids are knocked out in the back of the car at 6pm :) I never even thought about putting them in PJs before we get in. But for moms who do and put the kids directly to bed, what do you do about tooth brushing? I hate waking them up tired to brush their teeth and change into PJs after but tooth brushing is an absolute rule in our house since I want to prevent cavities.

I wouldn't wake a sleeping child to brush his/her teeth- not saying you should feel the same, just saying that I don't. I try to remember to bring a toothbrush when I bring jammies though.

We almost always do the PJs (and pull-ups, still) for late evening outings, which in our case are about once a week. I try and remember to bring a toothbrush for friends' homes but rarely do so for restaurants. If she falls asleep without toothbrushing, I never wake her up.

Wow, sounds like I am a lot stricter with this whole brushing your teeth at night business than the rest of you guys. Maybe I need to lay off a little, I just don't want them to get cavities.

for us it is an occasional thing (putting on pj's away from home) so i don't worry about them brushing their teeth when we are out. i don't think that skipping once in awhile will give them cavities. i do however ask dd1 to swish some water around her mouth. (dd2 just drinks some water, she isn't old enough to swish). i figure that it is better than nothing, but again, i don't stress it since it doesn't happen often.
