Anyone else hate dealing with swim dipes?

The last 2 days DD has pooped in her swim diaper. She'll stand up in her wading pool, tell me she has to poop, and poops. Then I'm stuck wondering what to do with a sopping wet child in a one piece suit and water logged swim diaper full of poop. It's such a fiasco to try to get the wet suit off and the dipe off w/out making a mess, and of course the entire time DD is screaming that she wants to go back in the pool mommy!

How do you all deal with the not yet potty trained DC and the pool?!

I haven't dealt with this yet...but Lands' End sells cute one piece swimsuits with snaps at the crotch. Why everyone doesn't do this for that age group is beyond me.

DS' suits have zipper crotches, so you don't have to take the whole suit off to change the dipe. They're made by NoZone, but there are other brands out there with a snap or zipper crotch. We mix using sposies (Little Swimmers) w/ Kushies swim dipes, which are more like modern cloth diapers. They velcro and tie shut and are often easier to remove than those darn Little Swimmers that are *supposed* to rip down the sides.

DD only wears a 2 piece suit b/c of this. I get the ones with the rash guard tops and then a separate bottom. At least then it's easier to deal with pulling a small portion of wet suit off of her.

I hate them even though I haven't had any poop issues yet. How do you change it on the beach, with the feet all covered in sand and mud? So much sand gets in there...

if a regular dipe gets wet, it weighs a few pounds; a swim dipe does not.

If it's a reusable one then you may have to pull it off like underwear to change. If it's disposable you have to rip the sides open. Both have the potential to be messier to deal with than a normal diaper.

I agree with getting a 2 pc suit. Great when pt'ed too. I know I switched to tankinis for me b/c it's so much easier to deal w/ the bathroom if in a 2pc not a one.

Swim diapers only contain "solids" not liquid. So put it on right before DC gets in the water. Not before riding in the car to get to the pool. ;) They don't puff up when they get wet.

I agree on the 2 piece suits. I am not a fan of one piece suits in general except for swim lessons/swim team type activties with serious, actual swimming vs just playing in the pool.

Sorry if this is a highjack, but I figured this was a good place to ask.

DS pooped in his swim diaper for the first time this week. I took him out of the pool and carried him straddling my hip to change him. I got him into a new diaper and then realized my shirt was wet and off color (it was a white shirt) the spot reeked of poop. It seemed to me that although the solid was contained in the swim diaper - the water that went in and came out must be dirty. Is this true? Do we then have to bleach the kiddie pool as we would if he pooped in the tub? TIA
