I thought I was all set on the mini pill, as it's what my OB recommended (because I am BF). It also supposedly does not interfere with my seizure medication as other BC Pills do, rendering both medications less effective. However, I am not totally convinced that my OB is right on that.
BUT after searching the BBB and finding posts about people not liking the hormonal side effects I do not really want to do that now. I have had some hormonal issues in the past and was even on a low dosage of Prozac because of it at one point.

So then I wanted to do Paraguard but when I read the pamphlets my OB gave me it mentioned that you should NOT go that route if you have had an ectopic pregnancy in the past. And I have had 2 ectopics.

(I hate my OB. She remembers nothing of my situation (seizures, ectopics, etc.) and I probably need to just find a new gyno.)

I am also 99.9% sure I do not want any more children. I think DH may eventually get a vasectomy but he's not yet wanting to deal with the reality of it and I feel like I need something in the meantime.
I have used a diaphram and condoms in the past but the spontaneity thing was an issue. Since I basically never have sex anyway, I kinda want something as easy as possible to deal with in the heat of the moment, KWIM?

Maybe the Paraguard and the ectopics are not such a big deal? The ectopic issue is the only thing keeping me from Paraguard at this point. Anyone know more?

Hi, I'll chime in here since I worked as a RN at an OB-GYN office for years. First of all, find a new doctor ASAP!!!! Issues such as seizures and ectopic pregnancies can have far-reaching effects in the OB-GYN world so you need a doctor who will always be aware of your medical history.

That said, there is a reason why people who have a history of ectopic pregnancies should not get an IUD. They actually make you more likely to get another one. They slightly raise the chance of having an ectopic even if you've never had one before. But, with a history of previous ectopics that risk is greatly increased. HTH! Let me know if you have any other questions.
