What is this brand? DS is turning 2 in a few weeks and I was thinking of buying him some Schleich animals, since they have some similar things at the daycare and he loves them. Entered "schleich animals" into Amazon and this Safari brand turned up as well. I like their selection and am interested, but I'd like to know more about where they're made, pthalates etc. before purchasing. Anyone know anything? Thanks :)

I don't know about phthalates (lalalalalalala) but we have lots of these. My kids love them and are one of their favorite sets of toys. I get them at Michaels and AC Moore.

Thanks Beth. They are especially appealing as bath toys - DS loves animals and hates bath time, they'd be a good bribe, um, incentive - and I worry that wooden ones would not survive frequent bathing too well. I may have to do the "lalalalala" thing too!

Thankfully, no need for the lalalalalala... ;)

Phthalates are softening agents added to PVC which can be harmful to children. All our products are phthalate free, to ensure the safety of our children.

yeah, I think the tubes specify PVC free (phthalates and pvc often go hand in hand)

Thank you! Now my kids can enjoy them guilt free. :)

And the animals make terrific souvenirs when traveling. When we go on a trip and visit a zoo/aquarium/museum they almost always have these in the gift shop. I let the kids pick one and that is their trip souvenir. When we get home they go in the bin with the other ones and take up no room. We still talk about where we got some of the animals (a penguin "toob" at the Penguin Encounter at Seaworld, etc.) and where they came from.

Oh, this is great news. Thanks everyone :) They look like a good thing to get into because there are so many options. DS loves animals and likes to learn their different names and hear what noise they make. And they're small!
