DS is loving playing with his vehicles, so we're thinking about putting one of those play rugs with roads and train tracks on his birthday/christmas list. I've seen them online at places like Lowes, Home Depot, and Ikea for around $15-$20, but I'm wondering about the quality and how well they hold up over time. I've also seen some Cars branded ones at our local Walmart, but they seem kind of rough and scratchy. Would anybody like to recommend their road rug? Thanks!

We have and like the IKEA one. It is kind of dirty at the moment, but we haven't had any problems with it.

We have the CARS one- I don't find it scratchy or rough. All of them are very low pile so you can drive cars easily on them. We have another one as well-http://www.amazon.com/Rug-Driving-Time-51-x78/dp/B0016568KO/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1254246127&sr=8-15 . I like the larger one better then the CARS version but they each get lots of play (one is upstairs one is down). The CARS rug to me is not as fun/versital, but my 4.5 year old and 2 year old don't seem to mind. I would say get the largest you can afford and will fit in your space.

ETA: we got the CARS rug free on craigslist (bought other things) and got the LA Rug at BJ's 2 years ago at Christmas- I'm sure we paid under $30 for it.

We have the Ikea one. It machine washes (air dry) just fine!

Thanks, all! The consensus seems to be that the Ikea one is nice, so I'll put that one on the list.
