Aside from the point in time where you can take a pregnancy test, how did you know you were pregnant if you were nursing, on the mini-pill & still didn't get AF yet? TIA

Isn't the mini-pill supposed to prevent you from getting pregant? I'm sure it could fail though. DS was born 6/09, DS is 4 months old, I'm EBF, on the mini pill since 6 weeks post partum and no AF yet.

My ob/gyn said that anything can happen with the mini-pill because it's so low dose, but it's my only option right now because DD2 is still BF. =( I would love to go back to Ortho-Tricyclen which really helped my skin in the past!

Just saw my Doc in Sept. DS2 born in April, EBF, on Mini-pill, and still no AF. He said this is perfectly normal. He said it could come soon or not till DS2 is no longer BF. He said even if you are BF once or twice a day you still might not see AF. He said he sees this all the time and not to worry.
Trust me...easy for him to say.....I panicked too and took a pregnancy test in August just to ease my mind.

How old is your DC? IIRC, my OBGYN told me the mini-pill in conjunction with nursing did well for the first six months, after that it got a bit dicey. I'd say keep a good stash of dollar store tests on hand.
I think anything can happen anytime on the mini-pill. Lots of women have conceived while nursing and on the mini-pill or simply nursing.

DD2 is 19 mos. old right now & still nursing. I should go and buy some dollar store tests...the thought of taking the pill every night when I could be preg. is starting to freak me out

Even though you are still nursing, it's my understanding that very little passes to the nursling when they are toddlers. I switched to my regular BCP when my daughter was almost 2, for the reassurance of better protection. She continued to nurse until 3 with no effects. Might be worth looking into?
