I can't believe it's come to this.. I have no idea what to get my son for his birthday.

All he wants are Star Wars Legos, and my mom's getting him another set or two. He already has a bunch. He has a ton of Star Wars toys (Galactic Heroes and the bigger kid sets). We have a Wii and he plays Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones.

I don't really want to get him any more SW action figures because he has so many. I don't want to get him any more Wii games because he already plays Wii enough. He plays with other toys besides SW ones, but not enough so that I can come up with any ideas. Are there any other cool SW gifts I could get him, besides action figures or clothes?

Help me. :(

What about board games or science kits? Those are big hits with DS1 besides his Legos. I'm planning on giving him a Snap Circuits set for Christmas.

My DS just turned 6 in September, so here are the presents he loved:

Bakugans
Knex (need an adult help for some sections)
Checkers, Chess, Chinese checkers board games
Of course Legos

I'll edit when I remember some of the others.

Does he like transformers? My boys think that anything robot related is cool.

My son is also addicted to Star Wars. :) A SW related gift are the new science kits that just came out. My DS got the volcano kit which was a fun project. I think the Dagobah frog habitat also looks really cool.

You could also get the build your own light saber or build your own Clone trooper blaster. Or any of the new, cooler light sabers. They have a new Darth Vader and a Count Dooku that pops out and makes lights and sounds. Dress up is always a good choice, and now is the time with all the Halloween goods in the stores.

Are you sure you don't want any more action figures? How about vehicles? My DS got the Millennium Falcon and the AT-TE for his birthday and he loves them! He plays with the AT-TE more than the MF. He is coveting the new Republic Gun Ship that just came out. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3548248
They also sell a bunch of ships, such as the tie fighter, x-wing, y-wing, obi-wan starfigher, etc. that are great for staging battles. DS saves all the backgrounds from the boxes and creates really cool scenes with the addition of wooden blocks, lego etc.

There's an AWESOME Star Wars pop-up book, my son got if for Xmas last year and LOVES it! It went super cheap on Amazon at one point. It has tons of stuff to look at.

How about a Lego watch with a SW character? Do you have a Lego store near you? Or even if not, you could order it. We were at one the other day and saw a few from SW. They were $19.99 I think.

Like a pp said, I think Snap Circuits is super cool, I picked one up at a toy sale at a school and even though it was missing a few pieces, DS was still able to do some of the projects. He loves it.

I second the Snap Circuits and science kit ideas. T will spend a ton of time with anything related to building and science.

What about a chess set? That has become a hit here recently. Our sons are about the same age, T turned 6 in June. He also loves Legos, so maybe they have similar interests.

DS Loves Lego as well. For Christmas, I'm planning to get him this Lego digital camera:

It's recommended for age 8 and up though.

HTHs.

If he likes Star Wars, would he like other space-themed things (solar system model set, books about stars/rockets/etc.)? My 6yo DD is obsessed with all things space-related. Other ideas:
-digital camera
-bookstore or other gift card (for the thrill of picking out his own things)
-globe
-mp3 player
-new bike
-gift that is a trip/experience (like an overnight stay in a hotel in a nearby city and trip to a children's museum)

A new Lego Star Wars huge hard cover "dictionary" just came out this month and it sold out ay my ds school book fair in 10 minutes - you can get it at Barnes & Noble http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Lego-Star-Wars/DK-Publishing/e/9780756655297/ It comes with an exclusive figure too. My 5 & 7 yo LOVE it as much as their action figures. Also, I second the PBK star wars bedding - even though not a toy it was a big birthday hit with my 7yo.

My son is really into sports and Legos. J's Baseball Guys and Football Guys are his hands down favorite toys, they provide HOURS of fun. Close seconds are his bat, ball, baseball glove, bases AND bag to hold it all.

We are moving into Playmobile items. We have some of the airport pieces.

He love music and dancing, so anything music is good.

Just got the two a set of soccer goals they use with their soccer balls and with their hockey sticks.

He is really into the following games:
Sorry (plays at his aftercare program)
Trouble (plays at his aftercare program)
Checkers
Decks of cards
Go Fish
Memory
Uno

J's go to item when he is bored is the Paula Dean Children's Cookbook

Our 2 (4 and 6) really enjoy listening to the Magic Treehouse Series of books.

There are some Star War Easy Reader books which you son may enjoy

Tickets to anything are appreciated, especially if a hotel or train ticket are with it!

J will be 6.5 at Christmas. So far my list for the 2 contains:
Sorry
Troublel
Blokus (plays at his aftercare program)
Lego Cargo Plane
Team Logo wear - they are outgrowing some Cubs and Steeler items
Soccer Guys
Hockey Guys
Scooby Doo Season 3 (we have Seasons 1 and 2 via Amazon for $25)
Madagascar movies, with penguins
Paula Dean Lunchbox Cookbook
Walnut Street Theatre Kids subscription
Toy Story Movies
Mystery Machine
Scooby Doo Figures
Othello

J wants to play Battleship, but we tried it last night and he is just not ready yet.

I thought of another thing. DS has the Moon in My Room and Solar System in My Room (Costco last Xmas) and they are so cool! It really looks good in his room and he loves playing it at night.

You ladies rock.
I just completed DS1's x-mas list based on some suggestions here.

Now to figure out what to buy DS2 since, gee, my incredibly fortunate children have incredibly generous Grandparents and there is very little we don't have of the type of toys I prefer them to play with.

i just got this for Charlie at our school's book fair...it's AWESOME, dh and i were reading thru it when the boys went to bed, lol.

it's $22 retail...amazon has it for $12!!! get it before they put the price up!!

for xmas our SW lovers will probably be getting more lego sets, any action figures that we don't have that they want. we'll probably get the SW Wii game, we have the lego ones, but not the Lightsaber Duels, and they JUST came out with a new Star Wars Clone Wars Republic Heroes game http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Clone-Republic-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B002ABVLZA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1255229885&sr=8-4, we have it on DS and Charlie loves it.

while yes, i don't want him playing video games all day, he likes it and he knows he can only play when i allow him and it give us something to "take-away" when he's being difficult.

that Frog thing looks cool, but with my younger ones i have a feeling it'll be dropped and spilled open before i know it!

they also have a Indy J. King Of Staffs Wii game or something that came out in the summer, we have it on the ds, it seems harder, but charlie still plays it from time to time.

my boys will also be getting the SW lego watches...our target has them for 19.99 :)

My Star Wars obsessed ds will be 6 in January. I've been slowly introducing him to castles and knights. I can say that he now wants to play more with his knights than with his Star Wars stuff.

Stuff I recommend:

Knights like this (check Target, fine toy stores, online):
http://www.amazon.com/Schleich-Knight-Mace-Lion-Soldier/dp/B0009IJNDI/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1255238066&sr=8-8

A castle:
http://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-Deluxe-Folding-Medieval/dp/B000NV9FR0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1255238114&sr=1-1

A knight costume:
http://www.amazon.com/Guardian-Knights-Deluxe-Armor-Toysmith/dp/B000ICXM0A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1255238142&sr=1-1

Some good old fashioned stories:
We love this series:
http://www.amazon.com/Knights-Kingdom-Quest-Tower-Lego/dp/0439788013/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1255238204&sr=1-1

and it just wouldn't be a 6 year old boy without Lego:
There are lots of sets in this series:
http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-7037-Castle-Tower-Raid/dp/B0015VOPG8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1255238290&sr=1-3

Thanks for posting this!!! My almost 6 yr old is CRAZY about SW legos, just nuts! Our catalog is totally dog-eared and falling apart and he wants me to read every single description to him. I am going to get him this! I'll probably just get it at amazon. His school book fair is coming up in a couple of wks, but I have no clue if they will have this book or not. Which book fair company carried this, was it scholastic? I know it's a DK book though.
