No, DS1, even though you are a high-needs kid, you cannot get out of taking this medicine. It's only ibuprofen and some maalox.
You have been a real nightmare to be around for the last week. I know you're sick, I know you're just *done* with the amount of body aches, fever, and other ills (including this mouth sore that's bothering you so much). I'm really sorry and I'm trying to help you and comfort you the best way I know how.
Just a reminder: if you kick and scream, we'll have to put you on the floor and use a dropper to get it down your throat.
Just take it, fer cryin' out loud.

I know, we have to hold down one DS, (he has some massive kicks, ouch) once we finally get the dropper in his mouth, he sucks it down like its liquid candy. Go figure...

Isn't it awful when they fight you so much when you're just trying to help them! I hope he feels better soon!

I hope he feels better by now, but I thought I'd share my trick. I used to crush up children's tylenol and mix it with a spoonful of pudding. DS never knew until I told him last year. He's 10, very soon to be 11, and he just started being able to take medicine. He would get so worked up he would just throw it all back up. He just always thought I was being super nice by giving him pudding when he didn't feel good. I know it's trickery, and I felt a little bad, but you do what you gotta do to get them feeling better. Thankfully, the two little ones are much better about medicine, and even ask for it when they feel sick. HTH!

Cha Cha and SiSi are the same way. They absolutely refuse to take it but then smack their lips and ask for more once I get it into their mouths. Go figure....

My 2 year old daughter is sick with fever (probably H1N1) and is supposed to take Tamiflu and Motrin. We could not get her to take it even with two of us holding her down and trying to squirt it in her mouth...a huge sticky mess all over her, us, the carpet, and no medicine in her. Today the nanny tried sneaking it in her juice, but she could tell and she refused to drink any liquids (even plain water) the rest of the day! So I finally figured out the trick. Bribe her with Skittles. Worked like a charm! Sure hope that method lasts until she's better...parenting is a battle of wits (and I'm usually on the losing end). :ROTFLMAO:

So true. But we should be proud that they are so smart, right?

Go figure. As of yesterday, he loves medicine and now asks to take it. Maybe he was delirious, w/out fever?
