Leapster vs Leapster 2

I did a search but did not find the exact answer to my question.

Which one to get for our soon to be 5 year old daughter... Leapster or Leapster2? I doubt we will be linking it to our home computer but wondered if I should get the newest version anyways since it is not much more in cost. Most reviews I read said that they did not use the additional features on the Leapster2 and that the screen was smaller then the regular version. I am leaning towards the regular Leapster and not the L2.

Any tips would be appreciated.

I have the Leapster for my son & then got the Leapster 2 for my daughter, however, just like most people you read about, we have only used the computer functions once. It doesn't seem like a big deal to me...you can track your child's "progress" on the games & supposedly download free games, but you have to have a memory card for your Leapster 2 that is really small...I've never even seen one that small in the stores the last few years. I can't remember the size limit right now. So, after experiencing both, I would save my money & ge the original.
