Can anyone recommend the best brands for dress up /pretend clothes? I am thinking both "princessy" and more gender neutral (doctor, police, fire fighter, etc.)?

I just purchased a doctor and fireman halloween costume on clearance at walmart. Surely not the highest quality but figured they'd hold up to dress up play around the house. DD is in toddler sizes but I bought small child size so there's room to grow and room to put on over her regular clothes. Couldn't beat the price...like $5 a piece.

I don't own any but have seen Sarah's Silks in real life and they have some gorgeous (but expensive) stuff.

For princessy on a budget, the best quality IMO is often to buy 2nd hand "fancy" dresses...1st communion/flower girl dresses or holiday dresses for example. A garment meant for "real" wear will usually be better quality.

I bought a ton of dressup stuff a few years back the day after Halloween at TRU for 75+% off. DD is almost 3 and has been into it for a while now. We have a cheerleader costume, Dorothy from Wizard of Oz, fairy wings, a fairy dress, a pirate outfit, a firefighter helmet, etc. and most of that was at super cheap prices.

There are some old threads if you search the archives that name better quality dressup clothing brands. Educational supply stores online that supply preschools, etc. usually have a good selection of costumes like doctor, firefighter, etc.

For princess dresses, Little Adventures, hands down. I haven't gotten any of their gender neutral stuff, but we have tons of the princess type outfits.

I've ordered from http://www.littledressupshop.com before. The owner got back to me quickly with answers to questions I had and shipped very fast.

We have some cheapy dressed from K-Mart or Big Lots (g'ma is into that) but they don't even come CLOSE to comparing to the quality and ease of use of Little Adventure dresses. I am not a fan of the ones with tulle (it seems to not last long, but maybe that's just here! They get a lot of use!!) but the princess dresses are AWESOME! Well worth the $$!
