Because apparently it has a recall issue that is causing spontaneous fires or something. It needs to be taken in for repairs ASAP and until repair needs to be parked away from buildings in case of fire!?! Something about that makes me feel uncomfortable driving it....

I find this slightly disconcerting, and what a lovely time to have it come, right before we drive several hundred miles for Thanksgiving.

I have an '03 Windstar that is included in the recall. I had some of the symptoms described in the recall. I called my local Ford dealership before I received the notice. They got me in that day and the repair/fix took less than an hour. I'd call your dealership and request to have it done that day. From my research is very, very rare and the fires have mostly if not all been in other Ford vehicles with the same parts as the Windstar has.

Can someone please tell where to find the recall info? I have an '03 Windstar that is acting "funny".

Thanks,
Christina

My ILs have a 2001 Windstar (or is it a 2003???) and I have notified them of several recalls over the years. I am really surprised the dealer didn't contact you though unless it was bought used then I don't know what the follow up would be. The most recall was for a fire danger involving the cruise control switch.

Here's a more thorough list:

eta- looks like it causes smoking or burning but not fires (the newest recall). Here is a list of all 10 of the Ford Windstar recalls that might affect a 2000 model:

In reading that though there was a recall in the past for fires. There is a chance your service shop has already taken care of it but you should call and ask.

Boy, I was right in thinking that car has had a lot of recalls! Take a look at the list and get a call in to your dealer to make sure they have been addressed.
