Seriously? Seriously. Apparently I can't buy gloves and hats for dd and ds at old navy now. I can buy flip flops and short sleeved shirts all I want but a coat-in january-I must be loco.

Similar experiences at target and my local resale shop. Irritating to say the least considering our high friday is supposed to be 8 with a low of -1. This is after the snowstorm due to start tomorrow night.

I'm off to kohl's. maybe i'll have some luck.

I know! I've been kicking myself for not buying DD another set of mittens earlier in the season. But come on! We've easily got 2 months of snow season left!

Same problem here, although not mittens and hats, but boots. I thought that DS2 could wear DS1's old boots from last yr, but he says that they are too tight. I went to Target today to get him boots. They had TWO prs of boy boots! Just TWO in goofy sizes! UGH.

Try Marshall's/TJ Maxx. I swear that I just bought two of these in navy/red on clearance for $3 each at Marshall's:

I think that it is even more ridiculous that stores are filling their racks with spring/summer maternity clothes now. If someone is shopping for maternity clothes now (I'm not, but I was last year this time), it's because they need them NOW. Who knows how big their belly would be in 3 months when it would be warm enough to wear those clothes!!

I had trouble finding snow pants back in 2006. Ended up getting 2T snow pants at REI.com off all places. No where to find them locally! Black with a flower embroidered on it, for my SON! I've since learned my lesson to purchase earlier in the season.

I hear ya. I am making a mental note to buy TWO sets of mittens/hats every season as the first set always seems to get lost right around the time that NOBODY is selling them anymore and we still have THREE months of freezing temperatures left.

I was at the Children's Place tonight and they still had a bunch of winter gear (of course, this is NC, so they're much less likely to have those things up north where you might actually need them!)

I had that problem with maternity clothes. We lived in MI at the time. I found out I was pregnant January 2. By February, when I was ready to buy maternity clothes (and that was planning ahead), all the stores had their summer clothes.

I can kind of understand having adult clothes "off" season. In general we don't change our size (much!) season to season. But kids change quite a bit, and it isn't always possible to buy ahead.

But maternity clothes?!?! What were they thinking? Was I supposed to know in November, before I conceived, that I would need maternity clothes in March?

I saw some hats and gloves at Target today, and I'm in SoCal. Hah! Maybe that's why our store still had them. Maybe you could try a different location???

What about Freecycle?

Dude, go ahead and buy your swimwear now, because come May, it will be g.o.n.e. The snowsuits will be back on the racks!

I hate that. Esp. when you have a baby you're trying to buy winter clothes for and there are only summer clothes avail! Thank goodness for friends, resale, and garage sales.

I always have these problems. I don't think to buy things like water shoes until July and then they are all gone. I'm trying to get better at it.

You would think they would always have a small stock on hand. Where does it all go?

DH looked at me like I was crazy b/c I already bought DS his water shoes for the summer. I reminded him of how we went crazy trying to find him a pair in June/July last year & had trouble finding his size. Now he wants to find a snowsuit for next year and is seeing how limited the selection is, so he's getting the idea.

It really bothers me too that you can't find winter clothes now when the weather is colder. I don't even want to buy summer clothes yet b/c I'm not sure if he'll still fit into some of what we already have.

So true. That is my pet peeve too.
