Our cleaning lady is not able to do this properly for some reason. Can someone please recommend some hard-core cleaning products for this? TIA.

Stall or tub?

Mildew problem is the grout or all over?

If grout on tiles, Tilex can't be beat.

If stall shower, my DH uses Clorox Clean-up with Bleach on ours. (Because of this, I haven't used our stall shower since July.)

I have not tried it personally but someone told me about a bleach spray foam product for the bathroom - - maybe its clorox??

I think this is what my DH uses for ours.

Tilex also smells a lot like bleach, but it's a gel and designed to get in between the tiles and into the grout.

I use clorox either straight (I put it in a spray bottle) or mix with some water. and a scrub brush. It works like a charm. Nothing else worked for us.

I have the same problem, we have black stuff under the silicon over the joints in the stall. Would Clorox work for this as well?

Nope, you have to pull out the silicon and put new stuff in. This happens with the silicon. They have anti-mold stuff in there, but eventually it grows. I do our bath/sinks maybe every 2-3 years. The trick before putting the new stuff in, is to get all the mold killed and then make sure the area is totally dry before applying the new silicon.

Something else you can try once you have the mold gone, is to use a grout sealer. It's a spray you spray on then wipe off. Supposed to seal the grout and keeps it cleaner as water/soap scum doesn't penetrate. I just did our shower. One advice, don't get any of the spray on the shower doors, it's a bugger to get off, and I'm not waiting for it to wear off the shower door.

I also spray the shower with one of those every day shower cleaners from Method etc. Don't know if it really works, but I like to think I'm doing something to help the shower stay clean...

Crap! We are renting an apartment right now, and there were small black specks right from the start. We've only been in the apartment for couple months when it began to look gross :(. Guess they were not able to get all the mold out while cleaning between tenants. I wonder whether I have the right to remove the silicon or not.

They probably didn't get all the mold, or they just put new silicon over the top of the old. You could take out the silicon and put new in, I would think. It's a bit fiddly, but once you work out your technique, it's easy enough fix. I looked online and read a few how to's before I did it. The painful part is getting all the silicon out and not scratching the tub/tile if you use a razor blade. I could never figure out how to use a caulking gun, so I just buy the tubes that you don't need a gun for, costs a little more, but it's easier for me to do.

Straight bleach is the only this that works in our shower and it actually does pretty well on caulk & grout.

Another Tilex Mold & Mildew lover. I saw on a new bit that bleach and bleach/water combo won't do the job. Mold is caused by stagnant water, and bleach is essentially a water (among a mixture of other things, obviously). The bleach may lighten the mold, but the bleach is still there, sitting on the surface, eventually causing more mold.
