DH and I have not worked out when to visit family..it's just too complicated.
We told my mother we would go for Christmas this year, and this will be the last Christmas trip to any family for some time - I want Christmas in my house. DS is 5 and has only had one Christmas in her house. Christmas Day is also his birthday. We can only stay 2 weeks to get DS back for school, and want to keep some of DH's vacation time for us.
DH looks up flights - for the 3 of us to Australia at Christmas it will be $5700 :47: We do have enough miles for one seat, if we can get a seat, so 2 tickets will cost $3700
Or we can go over the Summer, it's not Australia's peak season, and 3 tickets will be $2700. DH can only go for 2 weeks, but I could stay longer with DS and fly back alone with him....only problem with this plan is that I have to deal with my mother alone...there's plenty of BP posts about my mother.....saying we will stay longer might get her over the fact that we don't have Christmas there...
I really wish teh flights were cheaper...I would like DS to have Christmas at my parents house, but 3K difference is a lot of money.....
