my dd's first birthday party was lovely and we all had a great time yesterday. but now we have two gifts without cards or names attached to them. has this happened to others? what do you do about thank-you notes? do we ask people who were there and aren't accounted for present-wise? how would we phrase it?
thanks!

If the numbers work out and you know that the gifts belong to only 2 possible people then I would send out a generic thank you note that says, "Thank you so much for the gift! DC just loves it! We are so glad that you were able to come and celebrate this special birthday with us!" Did you open the gifts at the party? If so, and you thanked them in person, then that would help. Also, if you did open the gifts you could ask close friends and family if they happen to know who those gifts were from.

nope, didn't open the gifts at the party. and the gifts were packed to take home in a way that a bunch were inside big gift bags, so they could be part of another gift or separate gifts, so i wouldn't want to send a generic thank you if the person didn't send a gift in the first place. awkward! :)

In this case I think I'd send a 'thank you so much for making my birthday such a special day!' kind of card. That way you are covered for everyone. HTH!
