several weeks ago, DD suddenly got some flesh colored bumps in the crease of her wrist and a few on her hands. She pointed to them and itched a bit. I washed regularily and they went away prob within 1.5 weeks.

She's had a red rashy area in the crook of her left elbow for at least a week. It turned bumpy today and looks like a cluster of little blistery bumps. The area is red and looks irritated. I took her in in case it was impetigo or something like that, but the ped said she thought it was prob eczema. I thought it was weird that it was only in one spot (not behind her knees, in her other elbow, etc.). She agreed, but still thought it was eczema. Also, I've never seen eczema with distinct bumps, has anyone else experienced this?

Her other hypothesis was Molluscum. We had this last summer when she caught it from her cousin. It was a nightmare. She hasn't had it for 8 months though and we haven't been in contact with anyone else who has had it, doesn't go to daycare, and wears long sleeves in the winter. Just hearing that word made me want to throw up. I'm really thinking it's just eczema, but I can't get past the bumpiness. Someone please tell me eczema can present like this. Oh, and she didn't think it was impetigo b/c it would be oozy/crusty.

DD#2's eczema definitely has bumps. In fact, that is the first thing her ped. derm does when she examines her -- shuts her eyes and feels her skin on her torso and limbs, feeling for bumps. They are pore-sized bumps and they appear before a red "flare".

Thanks. DH has/had really bad eczema, but it was never bumpy. Always red, flat, raised patches of skin. I had never seen the bumpy thing. I wanted to put some hydrocortosine on to calm the flare and I realized I had 2 tubes, one expired in 2007, the other 2006.

I get the bumps, and they are kind of like water blisters. I also get the red patchy swollen bits. I think you are in the clear for Molluscum.

Thank you Green22 and Mamicka. It is reassuring to know that someone else has eczema that looks like water blisters. I'm putting moisturizer on it until I can get some hydrocortisone. I've been treating it like it's contagious just in case (washing hands after applying cream, etc.). Given that DH had such bad eczema, I felt lucky that DS never got it (he has really dry skin though). It's too bad that DD looks like she's developing it. I hope it doesn't spread further. We already do fragrance/dye free laundry detergent, no fabric softener, gentle bath wash, infreq baths, fragrance free/gentle lotion, etc.

ETA: I was so sick to my stomach at the mention of molluscum, but, really, I don't see how it could resurface after 8 months clear and no contact with anyone who has it.
