Hi,
We are going to visit my parents often over the summer and they live in a condo in San Diego.
There is no air conditioning -- we just leave the windows open since they're on the water.
The problem is I have a 13 month old DD and she's walking everywhere.
The windows to their condo go down to the carpet/tile and we're on the 3rd floor!!! What can I do? We'd love to not have to keep the windows shut all the time, but even with them shut I feel a little nervous since the latch to open them is at the bottom of the frame -- right at her level :(
I'm so scared she's going to push open one of the windows... or worse.
Any tips/advice?

Thank you so much for the help.

I JUST heard of a poor 3 year old who fell out of a second story window in SF and was in critical condition, so it's very smart to be thinking of this now.

If they don't mind your drilling some holes, get something like the Kidco Safeway G20 gate to block off the window(s). I use it at the top of my stairs, but their website shows it being used to block off a window, too:

Can you put something (like a dresser) in front of the windows? Can you open them only from the top? It does sound tricky.

Good luck!

I'll take a look at those covers for the windows. We can block off one of the windows, but not the other 3 around the house.
I wish they could be opened from the top, but these only release from the bottom.
Another woman who lives in the building has a DS 5 months older than mine and she just keeps her windows closed all the time.
