Does anyone know of a good way that a little kid can do something that helps this effort? We don't live anywhere close by. Thanks!

That is awesome. How about him visiting salons (with you of course!) and asking if they are participating in the hair collection thing. If they are not he could volunteer to collect it and send it to the effort or tell them about it so they can participate.

Can't think of anything else right now. Good for him.

What about collecting coins to send the Audubon Society?

Is he old enough to have a lemonade stand? We have lots of parks in our town (one right across the street) and that means lots of sports going on. He could sell from a wagon or something. "Free will" donations with an explanation of his fund-raising efforts would likely garner some funds for him. He could then donate to clean up efforts. I think it's wonderful when our kids see the needs of those around them and honestly try to help. They are the one's that will positively impact our world.

Great ideas! Thank you! I will run them by him. He seemed to be fancying scooping up the oil into buckets. :) I do love his love of the environment. Except earlier this week he had strep throat and looked miserable so I offered medicine. "No, mom, medicine isn't a renewable resource." Once I explained the origins of meds he agreed to take some.
