Bret Michaels
Jose Lima
Beau Biden
Simon Monjack - he probably OD but had a recent heart attack and was scheduled BYPASS
surgery - at 39???

What the heck is going on, diet? Substance abuse? Over excercising???

Freaky, remember when back in your teens/twentys, someone who was 30-40something was OLD?

Well, I (and most of us) fall into that category (sorry, don't mean to imply that we're old codgers!) and I'm wondering if it is something as a whole, in our generation that is causing all these medical issues in people SO young.

DH really freaked out about Jose Lima. We also just had an old work friend's husband pass away at age 38.
DH keeps mentioning how old (young!) each person is. I think he is worried about his own age and mortality.

DH was mentioning Jose Lima last night becasue he is a year older. We still think we are young but the recent rash of Gen Xers dying or close to it is starting to make us think. I already have a chronic condition but DH if fine (knock on wood). I can't imagine waking up finding him ....(can't type it)

I hope this is just a fluke.

Yeah, Jose Lima was definitely freaky. I think in some cases it's just bad luck, and others bad living. After Beau Biden's stroke, I read they aren't uncommon in folks his age. Gulp!

Ouch! Nooooo, middle age is like 50something, I am so not there yet. However, I hope to be healthy enough to get there one day ;)

Ditto with the chronic condition (s), I think that is why I am so bothered by this. Coupled with underlying medical issues and the meds required to keep them at bay, I hope my body can process all of it and keep truckin' along.

I never worried too much about my health before kids. Now I always do, my Dad passed away when I was almost 3 (DD2's age) and my Mom is older, I think that has a lot to do with my wanting to stick around a looooooong time, for them.

Yeah, the truth hurts! ;) I was thinking the same thing, especially re: Beau Biden and Bret Michaels. Middle-aged just sounds so friggin OLD!

Beau Biden has family history of strokes on both sides.

Bret Michaels has Juvenile Diabetes, which wreaks havoc on people who live clean lives, and he's admitted many times how unclean his living has been. I'm guess he's regretting that right about now.

My husband thinks that Jose Lima might have had some steroid use, so there's that. Not sure if it will be true, but it sounds reasonable.

It can happen out of the blue to anyone, but the odds are in active, healthy-lifestyle people's favors. That's for sure.

Anyone feel better??? (it totally scares the crap out of me)
