DS2 seems to be having a hard time going down for a nap lately. I'm listening to him bang around in his crib as I type this. I'm so disheartened. It's just in time for summer, and DS1 doesn't have preschool anymore. No breaks for Mom! Anyone have experience with such a young guy stopping the nap? Boo hiss!

DD1 started going through those phases around the same time, and it was the worst at about 2 yrs. 3 mos; this is when the climbing out of the crib started, and we eventually moved her to a twin sized bed. She went through it again at 3 and I thought okay that's long enough, but then she started sleeping again:). At 4 yrs+ DD1 still takes a nap. I would just be persistent with him, is there anyway that he would take a nap in the same room as DS1 (if DS1 still takes naps)?

DS1 doesn't do a formal nap anymore. He sometimes crashes on the couch or in the car in the afternoon if it's been a busy day, though.

I hope the nap resistance for DS2 is just a phase. I will definitely keep trying!

DD stopped regularly napping around that age and my reaction has been the exact same as hers. Since then we've been able to SOMETIMES get her to nap, maybe 40% of the days.

DS2 just started doing this the last few weeks. I was beyond disappointed he was taking so long to fall asleep and not sleeping very long either. I was ready to chalk it up as him dropping his nap when I accidentally discovered that he was too hot. So I've started putting him down in just a diaper and his cotton sleepsack and turning the air conditioning down one extra degree and that has made all of the difference. He is now dropping off just like he used to. Could be a coincidence, but I doubt it. Worth a shot anyhow...I need that naptime!

My 19mos old who has always been the BEST sleeper is trying so hard to give up his afternoon nap :( ..

It takes him quite awhile to settle down and go to sleep...He also isnt sleeping as long...Hes gone from a 2 1/2 hr nap to 1hr..

Its a bummer!
