We're giving DS (16mo) store-brand acetaminophen. Walgreens. But the bad news is that most Walgreens in our area are all out :( haven't tried other stores, though.

Nothing. We don't medicate fevers unless they get over 103 degrees (which hasn't happened in our house except once). We don't use it for anything else. DD has never had a need for it and DS has had it a bare handful of times in his 4 years.

We use the target store brand here...I think you are safe with any store brand.

Thank you very much. Does anyone know if CVS has a store brand? I won't be able to make it to Target until tomorrow.

DS got sick with 103 fever. Other than a slowed down pace in movement, he had his appetite, still drank his water, wasn't whinny, & still happy we gave him nothing. He was able to fight it out thank goodness. Please don't call me a horrible mom. I just did not see the need for medication at the time.

It is healthier not to medicate a fever unless it gets very high (103 is high but not dangerous) or the child is extremely uncomfortable. Fever has a purpose in fighting off the disease (and after vaccinations - giving tylenol after a vax decreases the immune response). Additionally, the use of Tylenol is not risk-free. I don't think many peds mention that to their patients so they can assess the risks vs. benefits (and alternative treatment options) for discomfort-management in young children. Use of Tylenol-type pain relief in babies linked to asthma: study (http://www.cbc.ca/health/story/2008/09/19/asthma-child.html) & Baby Acetaminophen Tied to Asthma (http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=92780)

we use target now, but were told by the ped a slight temp 101-102 isnt usually a concern and dont need to give meds unless dc looks/acts uncomfortable. the purpose of a fever is to kill of the germs and we are usually took quick to medicate and not allow their bodies to fight off the virus on their own.
