View Full Version : Selling your first stroller?

I've noticed in the past few posts that some folks have sentimental feelings towards their strollers, often the first one they purchased. I'm curious to hear how others feel.
After Jenng's rave review, I found a Valco Rad with jogging wheel on stroller swap. It covers all of my AT needs and DS can face me--which is a huge relief because he often becomes quiet when he's in the stroller and I get nervous. So, I'm thinking I ought to sell my BJCC since it's not being used. I know at some point I'll prefer to have a typical 3-wheeled AT stroller again, but that won't be until at least next year, probably more like 2.
I feel guilty looking at both of my AT strollers in the garage--especially since they are the same color, so they look really redundant--but I get a little misty at the thought of saying goodbye to the BJCC. I'm more of a minimalist, so I'm sure the side of me that would prefer to have money in my pocket rather than a fleet of strollers will win out in the end, but I'd really like to hear if other people have felt this way.

Yes! I was kind of sad when I sold my Valco Trimode but consoled myself by getting a MB Swift with the sale proceeds. :) I would hold on to that BJCC! You will wish you had the extra headroom when your DC starts stretching out!

i'm not saying it's normal, but i cried a fair amount when i sold our vista last week
particularly as we used the bassinet as DS's daytime sleeping spot for the first 3ish months of his life
the couple that puchased picked it up on a night when DH was out for a work dinner, and after they left and i was alone in my quiet apartment, i cried for a good long while
and i actually still am feeling the hole. i kept my strollers right outside my apartment door and now every time i come in or out, it just looks barren and empty with only the quest sitting there
geez...and now i'm tearing up at work typing this and thinking about it
yes, i found it very emotional
if i were you, since your DC isn't outgrowing the stroller, i would keep it - you can easily justify future use
good luck

I would say KEEP IT! I have one (right as they were being discontinued) and LOVE it. I say keep it and when you are finally ready to be rid of it (it is outgrown), THEN sell it.
IMO, the classic series is better than the new select series. It's lighter, and even though it might only fit one child, I would not be interested in getting a selecto for the extra $$$ over a classic if I could find one. You will get your money's worth out of it if you keep it until the very end!

Maybe that is one reason why I won't sell my P3. But I do use the stroller sometimes. As for the BJCC - I just bought one on CL a month or so ago. DS2 is 20 months. I LOVE it. Use it all the time and it is my favorite stroller for this stage with DS2. I would hold on to it just because the seat fits bigger toddlers and preschoolers so well.

I sold my BOB Revolution when I bought my Rad with the jogging wheel. I didn't regret it one bit. But... I ended up selling my Rad, too, because this baby prefers to be worn! I hope I don't regret letting the Rad go. With the jogging wheel, it is just about the perfect stroller!

Hi Ladies,
Oh Liamsmom, I feel your heartache! First of all, I am so happy you got the Rad with jogging wheel!!!! I hope you love it, trust me, it so grows on you, I love mine more and more every day. I know there was one person selling one off the strollerswap forum a while ago, so maybe that is the one you purchased. They are very hard to find with those jogging wheels... I am still searching for the air wheel version, mine is EVA foam. Ok, back to the topic!
Well, if no one read my other posts, my Rad was my son's very first stroller, and you know what, I can't sell mine either!!! I am so sentimental, it's crazy, I mean, it is just a stroller right? ;) "But", when I was recovering from my C-surgery, that Valco was a life saver at 3am in bassinet mode. There have been times I have posted my Rad for sale, but in the end, as soon as I get interest, I can't bring myself to sell it. My DH thinks I am nuts, but it does have beautiful memories attached to it... now my son is getting sooooooo big and when I went to look at competing strollers, like, the Uppababy, BJCity Select (which I recently returned), etc, nothing compared to my Rad for value and that HUGE seat. The only negative was the XL straps but I fixed that with a car seat buckle to make it a true five point harness. Now it's perfect! There really aren't any strollers out there that can do it all, but wow, this one comes close... That is why I had to post about it, it truly is the best for us!
So I say this, if you are really on the fence about getting rid of a stroller, because you feel you should only have one or two, throw that out the window! If it means something to you, and has sentimental value, why would you sell it? Money comes and goes, but memories are priceless ;)

Man, what a bunch of enablers! :ROTFLMAO:
Thanks though. I have decided to remain undecided for a while longer. Luckily we have a large loft in our garage, so I put the BJCC up there while it is not currently used. Now I don't feel guilt when I enter my garage! Seriously, I remind myself that while I could sell the BJCC for what I paid (during that big sale last Fall) I might have a hard time finding that same deal again and eventually pay more for an AT stroller in the end.
