So I'm 9 weeks post partum; applied for CASDI (state disability) 5 weeks ago. I haven't heard a thing either way about whether my application has been denied or accepted. When did you get your first check? I applied 4 weeks post partum but am assuming that I would still receive retroactive reimbursement for the period 6 week post partum. How did it work for you?

I started my leave 4 weeks before due date. While I don't remmeber the exact timing, I do remember that I started getting the checks before I gave birth. So, I would say, check with your SDI administrator.

Mine came fast, like less than a week from filing. I would try to contact someone.

Mine came in about 3 weeks I think. But I only remember because my co-worker asked me the same question when she was 6 weeks into her leave in May. She had not received anything either.
State budget cuts??? Would definitely call.

It took a few weeks to get anything from them and when I did it was a letter saying that a code on the form from my doctor was incorrect. The nurse refiled the exact same form (nothing was "incorrect"). I got a check less than a week after that. This was in the fall of 2008 when the economy was a mess, so I assume that they were looking for excuses to find problems and to reject claims. I'm sure things aren't any better now!
