I was all set to get the FP lamb swing (because it's so cute!!) and then I saw it requires DD batteries. I definitely would prefer a swing that did not need batteries. I do like the cradle swings (had the ocean wonders one for my older kids) but I really need that AC adapter.

Thanks in advance for your recs.

FP has a few that have AC adaptors. You just have to search for them because they aren't sold at all stores. IIRC, there is a FP Ocean or Rainforest with an AC adaptor--BRU may not carry it though.

graco lovin hug has an AC adapter. it wasn't what we used, but it was what I recommended to a friend as I helped her register, based on the fact that we loved our graco, but not its way of devouring batteries. It actually comes in quite a few patterns.

We have a Fisher Price Swing that has an AC Adapter. I think it is the Zen collection. It is brown and light green. DD absolutely LOVED it when she was 0 to 6 weeks old and wouldn't sleep anywhere else. I loved that I wasn't constantly replacing batteries since it was literally on probably 12 hours/day. The motor still works now that DD is 4.5 months.

I saw the Starlight Papasan has the AC cord and it's on special for $100 at Walmart--any experience with that one?

We have the Graco Lovin Hug and it plugs in which is awesome. The only thing is it's a little clunky in the design. The tray snaps on when opening and closing which is sometimes kind of loud and has startled our baby. Also the harness was very poorly designed and if baby is fussy it's a real struggle getting him into it. Once he's in he loves it though. It has different speeds and also has a music/sound effect option.

We have the lamb one and B uses a ton and we are only on the second or third set of batteries.

That's a great price. We had that one and loved it. It's the same frame/motor as the lLittle lamb with different colored seat cover and plugs in. The light up stars feature was nice too. You can use batteries in it if you want and don't have an adapter... but plugging in is sweet! Colors are pretty unisex... we used it for our girl, but based on the online pics I would have thought it's better for a little boy. Color is more muted IRL (which made me like it better).

Just passed it down to my cousin... the motor is still going strong. They have several of these at our day care and have held up well... but don't swing as fast as ours did .... guess they take a lot more constant abuse at our daycare (big center...36 kids under 24m).

Glad to hear it's unisex. My one concern about it is I've heard in reviews it's purplish, but it's such a great price and the other FP one that plugs in is pink!

ETA: I just got it from Diapers.com (yay for pricematch) for $110 total. It was $109 on Walmart, not $100, and they charge tax. Still a lot cheaper than BRU, Target, etc. Yay!

Congrats! Let me know what you think when it arrives. I'd say it's more "periwinkle" than purple, but that's splitting hairs. Colors were soft enough to pass for a neutral. I really wanted the lamb one colorwise... but I thought the Starlight was much better once it arrived, but our other choice was that obnoxious pink and brown one. I love pink and brown together, but ... that one was tooo mucccch.

Hope you enjoy it.

The lamb one was the one I wanted based on looks, also, but if it only runs on batteries, no thank you! Thanks for the advice.

We have the starlight and honestly my baby has only spent a tiny amount of time in it. She's not a fan. I really like it though and am happy it plugs in and happy that I bought it second hand!

The Gracco Soothing center swing. It is awesome and the plug in feature was a money saver.

I have that one and LOVED it. I bought it when DS was 2 months and only wish I had gotten it from the start. It was a lifesaver and worth every penny! Sometimes it was the only way I could get him to nap (2+ hours!) I used it daily for 6 months, until he was very mobile and just didn't want to sit in it anymore, plus I needed the space. It's now in storage, waiting for a possible DC#2.
