My thyroid is enlarged, and I've received different advice from my OB vs. general practioner on what I need to do. Both dr's have noticed the enlarged thyroid during my exams. At my OB's request, I had an ultrasound of my thyroid and those results were normal. Blood test results showed that my T4 levels were normal, but my TSH was low (.015 uIU/ml). My OB doesn't think that I need to do anything further, but my regular Dr. initially thought this was a problem. I saw my OB last, so I would need to make another appt with my general practioner if I want to do anything further and probably go to an endocrinologist next. Quite frankly, all the appointments are stressing me out, because I just don't have the time right now since it is my busy season at work and I've already taken enough time off with no real answers. Plus, I'm totally confused on what this all means. I know I've seen several posts here about thyroid issues, so I would love to get any advice on whether I should just move on and ignor the low TSH or does this really warrant more follow up?

I would see a specialist who knows more about thyroids.

:yeahthat: I would set wheels in motion to see an endocrinologist that specialises in thyroid disorders.

I wouldn't stress about it right now. There's lots of things it could be, and it might not be serious. Low TSH often means hyperthyroid - too much thyroid hormone. It's managed with medication. I have the opposite, hypothyroid, not enough hormone, so I take a pill a day to give me what my body needs.

It could take a couple of weeks to get an appt. So, start the process to get the appt, and don't worry anymore until you get seen.

Yeah that! And I don't ever think its a good idea to have an enlarged thyroid. Its a sign that something is off in the body.

Okay, thanks for the feedback, since it looks to be unanimous, I have a call in to my dr's office. I googled the hyperthyroid symptoms, and all of them apply except for....

weight loss!

Grrr, I weigh about 15 pounds above my normal weight. I have been really focusing on exercising regularly and eating sensibly and I just have not been able to lose weight at all. Really, Grrrr, again.

If I have to take medication that will make me gain weight, I will be seriously depressed.
