My birth name is Anne, and the only people who call me that are people at work, my Grandma, and my husband when he is talking to other people about me. Everyone else including DD1 know my name is Annie. DH calls me Pookie and has since we started dating, it's a Married with Children reference. I call him Pookie too. Never in public though.

My in laws try and call DD1 EJ, but both DH and I hate it. DD1 looks at them like they have two heads, it's pretty funny. She only answers to Elisa. We do call her and DD2 Monkey, Big Girl, or Baby Girl at home. DD1 calls DD2 Laurie sometimes.

I call DH "Silly" a lot...which derives from his name...even though I *do* think he is silly! DD is "JuJu" most of the time....or "sweet potato" or "lovebug." When I was pregnant, we referred to her as "inchworm" because at one point, DH read that she was as big as an inchworm and he thought that was sweet.

I love nicknames....probably because my given name is so short, there's no way I was going to have a nickname as a kid ;)

DH is big on nicknames. He's Matthew, but only his grandmother calls him "Matthew" ... everyone else calls him "Matt", except for his friends from college. They call him "Taz", as in "Tazmanian Devil" from the old Warner Bros. cartoons, because of the way he tears around when he's doing what I call his "ADD thing."

Also, I call him "Bear" or "Snuggle Bear."

His SIL named her DD's with the idea that she'd ONLY call them by their nicknames, even as infants. She admits to having a weakness for ultra-feminine names that have gender-neutral nicknames.

In my family, however, we're big on full-names until you decide on your own nickname.

To this day, relatives who haven't seen me frequently enough through the years still call me "Elizabeth" (my full name) rather than "Liz" (which is what I've gone by everywhere since grammar school.) Acquaintances and teachers from grammar school also still call me "Elizabeth", which is kind of funny to me.

For DD, however, she's been "Bean", "Bug" ('cause the docs in the CICU were calling her "lovebug"), "Booba" and "Bubba" in addition to "Honeybear", "Gwen" and "Gwendolyn" ... mostly, I try to call her "Gwendolyn", though, to help her learn her name!

Hmmm, for DD#1, we use a shortened form of her name, "sweetie", "Sweetie pie", "cutie", etc. The shortened form of her name is the most common.

With Ds#2, there isn't really a good nickname from his name, so he has a variety of "names". Most common is "buddy" or "little buddy", "bud", "little dude, "little guy" and occasionally..."Senor Stinkypants"!

DD calls DS "Eggo". Absolutely no idea why and it is no where close to his name. She's been doing this since April and it doesn't appear to be stopping anytime soon.

I'm so proud of my son, the waffle.

:hysterical:

DH used to call me Bubs short for Bubbles... thank god he stopped that. Now it DEAR when he is being smart a$$ and T-Bird (which was my nickname from my dad) or just Tara.

DH doesn't really have a nickname from me.... from his parents Timmy, Tadpole (his dad's nickname is Toad :rotflmao:)

Bryson gets B, Little Man, Curtain Climber (from my dad). Later if he wants to go by Bry or Bryce that is ok with me.
