I strolled through that long thread about user names and also saw that lots of us enjoy nicknamed kiddos rather than "dd1, ds3" etc.
I'm pretty sick of typing "dd" so I'm offically naming my baby girl: Sprog (Sproggles when I'm feeling extra-affectionate).
Her dad and I have started calling her that and it seems to fit.
I challenge the rest of you to entertain the forums by re-christening your kids with fun and descriptive nicknames!

Then my DD is Bubbe Sue. We actually call her that IRL at home. In public we use her name. I don't have a clear picture of why or how we got to calling her that, altho she is named for my grandmother (who was Jewish, died before DD was born) and Bubbe is Yiddish for Grandma. No ones name is Susan/ Susannah, or any derivation thereof. Maybe I should just drop the Bubbe and call her Sue. That would actually be funny because DH's name is kind of gender neutral, and he always says "It's like a boy named Sue" when he is introducing himself to people and they are thrown off by his name. One benefit is that, since I manage all the finances, I can pretend to be him. It pissed him off when our heath insurance company sent him a card with his gender listed as F. Poor DH.

Hi Bubbe Sue! You should keep the "bubbe" it's unique. It's probably important for kids to have some silly nickname. As they age they'll pretend to be annoyed about it but secretly feel special. :)
I think "Sprog" originally comes from our favorite read-aloud British author, Terry Pratchet. He uses the term in a book we read while expecting. It's fun to say, so we adopted it!

Kitten (Tiger Kitten is the full nickname, oddly enough, but that's all the better as he grows up - we can shorten it to Tiger)
and
Teddy Bear (or Bubby as we try to force ourselves not to call him Baby, lol)
Then DS will be "the beast" and DD will be "bahnah". basically our nicknames for them now.

Is "bahna" a 1st word by any chance? Or favorite food?

We have a 'beast' here as well - we call him 'Will da Beast' or 'Beast' for short. His real name is William. It started out as funny but really suits his personality. He got a baseball bat for his birthday that had 'Beast' on the side - he was in heaven.

I'd have to refer to them all as "AnLuNe whoever you are", because heck if I remember anyone's name any more. When I talk to DH, I call them Number 1, Number 2, and Number 3.
Fun thread! I was actually thinking of changing my signature. . .
#1 is Jelly Bean, but I don't know what #2 is yet. (#2 has been called Yoda, Gnome, and Clone. . . but not by me.)
I also call #1 "Little One" and #2 "Big Girl," and that's just not going to work on so many levels.

My DD is the Bunny for short. "Bunny-baby-monkey-love" is her full "proper" nickname.
I also call her "Ti bec" -- slang French for "little beak," because she looked like such a baby bird when she was nursing. Try not to use Ti bec in public now, more than once folks have thought I was calling her "tea bag" which has many different connotations, few are good.

It would be too hard for me to pick just one!
DD1 has mainly gone by "Munchkin", "Kidlet" and "Carrie-bear". DH calls her his "Little Big Girl".
DD2 is "Anna Miss Banana Pants", (which sometimes gets shortened to "Anna Miss Banana"...or on some days "Anna Mis-behavin'"), and "Small-Fry". DH calls her his "Big Little Girl".
Either one of them can be "Sweet Pea" or "Babe".
And I've decided that if we ever have a third girl, she will be named Carolanna, because then no matter what hybrid version of Carolyn and Anna I try to say, they'll all have to come running.

FUN! DD1 was Bunny to the point that when she was about a year old we noticed that she's look at us when we'd say Bunny she'd look at us, but never when we used her real name. Oops. So that one is out for us, plus it TOTALLY belongs to M-H (IIRC).
I'm choosing Lula for DD1. She has named every single thing Lula recently. Her dolls, her stuffed animals, three or four pet hermit crabs. Time for the girl to own it.
DD2 can be Dolly. I'm always telling her she's my baby dolly, my MIL (lovingly) teases me about how I had girls so I could play dress up dollies.
So Lula and Dolly. Off to update siggy...

I call dd1 "Monk" quite often. Short for Monkey, of course. She also goes by "Bird" too, ditto here on the nursing references.
I'm not sure if we have a nickname for dd2...we have one with her name in it but it's more of a longer phrase than a shortenend nickname. If she's going to have a nickname here, it would be "Cuddles" because that is what she loves and requests daily. She's a sweetie.

hmm. good idea, just don't know what i can come up with. i mean, i have to compete with gator, cha cha, green bean, & sisi! ;)
karst is his real middle name, so i guess that's out... on second thought, though, i think i'll use it. it'll make my user name make sense!

Karst is a really cool name. I've never heard of it - is it a family name?

Fun. My DD's nickname is Lovebug - Bug for short. When she is being silly I call her Goose, which is short for Silly Goose.

I have too many nicknames for my boys, here are a few:
DS#1 Biggy, Wacky, Jr. (when he is acting like his Dad), Smackadoodle, Suges. On here I refer to him as Biggy.
DS#2 Squirt, Willy (short for Silly Willy or Willy Wonka), Ange (short for Angel). IRL we use Willy as much as we use his real name.

I feel like I should remember that from my college geology class... anyway, it makes a cool name.
All I remember from geology is sedimentary, volcanic, cumulous (oh wait, that's clouds not rocks). Those would NOT make good names. :)
