I like it. But I'm wondering how wearable it really is? And whether it will look really dated in a year or two?

It looks... how should I put it nicely... too casual, especially for the price. Personally I prefer more fitted or structured dresses, which work better for my curvy body. If I had the same body type as the model, than I might consider it but in a different price range.

It doesn't really do anything for me. I also agree with pp- looks ok if you are stick thin but not sure what it would look like with any curves. I don't see it being a wardrobe staple in 1-2 years.

I don't like it and think it would look like a potato sack on most people.

I don't really care for it.

I wouldn't pay $118 for it, honestly. If it was a real deal I may try it, but it's the kind of dress you really need to try on before buying, because you never know how it's goign to look on you.

Okay, then. That's a definite no from the BBB. Funny, the few reviewers on the Garnet Hill site really liked it. But I do agree that it is awfully pricey for something that is casual and probably completely out of style quickly.

Thanks,
Catherine

Hmm, maybe this reaction means it will be in the clearance section and I can try it then. Or not.

If you're looking for a fun dress with pockets, the Essential Summer Dress (http://www.bodenusa.com/en-US/Clearance/Womens-Dresses/Above-Knee-Dresses/WH202/Womens-Essential-Summer-Dress.html?strShortKey=SRCH&cm_mmc=GoogleBase-_-Women's%20Clothes-_-Women's%20Above%20Knee%20Dresses-_-WH202%20Dark%20Turquoise%20Essential%20Summer%20Dr ess) from Boden was a favorite for me this year.

I really like it and would buy it- if it cost $40 or less. I'd prefer if it were in a heavier fabric. It looks like it's made of Tshirt material. But, even in a different fabric, I still wouldn't pay full price for it.

Thanks, due to a truly horrid cs experience with Boden a few years ago I will never order from them again. The Boden dress is cute, but I think it is actually the slouchy style of the Garnet Hill one I like (and everyone else hates. ;). )

Not a fan of the dress either but I sure like those boots though!

Hmm it kind of looks like something one might find at H&M, doesn't it? Your price comment made me think of that. Maybe I'll see something similar at a better price?

Thanks,

When I pulled up your link, at the bottom of the page was this dress... http://www.garnethill.com/banded-knit-dress/144444 I think this dress has a similar look to the one you want, and is radically cheaper. I have this dress in both blue and gray and absolutely LOVE it. That said, I normally wear a size 6/8 and had to get an XS, so it runs really big. But, if you can get your size, it is so cute and comfy. I am wearing it right now by itself with sandals, but can also totally wear a tight tee, sweater leggings, and slouchy boots with a totally different fall look.

Awesome option! Sadly they are out of the xs in all colors. I usually wear a 4 or 6 in a dress so I think I would have to get the xs. . . .

This was my thought. I do think it's cute, but definitely more than I'd pay for such a casual dress. Of course living in Florida, I find the lightweight material to be a plus.

I don't like it and think the style looks fumpy and not taylored enough. Price seems high for the dress.

You would absolutely need the XS. (Or XXS if they had it ;) ) But keep checking back. They were all out for a while, then they got some. Were all out again, and then got some again. The last round is when I got my blue, which looks to be the same color as the dress you like from Velvet, and it is a GORGEOUS color.

Oh I would never have thought to check back. Good tip. And the blue is definitely part of the attraction. Thank you!

I like the dress. Here's another website that has more pics of it:

You really need to accesorize it though so that it does not look sloppy.

I saw it before on the site and really really like it. I would definitely wear it, but I would also wait for the clearance. GH has some great clearance stuff right now!

I have a very similar dress from H&M, but I got it a while ago. Surely they'll have more in this style this season because it looks great with leggings and high boots.

Thanks for the additional pics! I love the over the knee boots. I was thinking it would go with my chunky black wedge sandals or with black tights and my black motorcycle-style boots. . . .

I've never really shopped Garnet Hill. They have some nice stuff. Do they have coupons regularily? Someone awhile back mentioned Martin and Osa. I've seen things of theirs here and there at TJ Max for $20. I got a dark red dress there today for $20.

I showed it to DH, who does not hesitate to say when he thinks something is ugly ("tact is a barrier to communication"). He said, "I like it!". Very interesting.

So I actually liked it on the GH website. Looking at the additional pics on this other website, my first (and second) thought was: Franciscan monk. Unless the monastic look is back, I'd skip.

I think this dress can look fab or drab depending on what kind of dresser one is. I would not like it with leggins and flats, but I do like the idea of doing a funky look with it with motorcycle boots like OP said she might. The key to making it look cool will be in the styling of it.

OP, I always trust what my hubby says! Like yours, he is not shy when he thinks something is ugly!

I like the dress too. I think you can really accessorize it and it will be so comfortable.
