I understand you're trying to declutter your home, really I do. BUT. DO. NOT. put out clothes to sell that are either torn, ink stained, bleach marked, missing buttons or in otherwise unwearable condition. It's insulting to me as a person browsing through your junk to say that you think so little of my money. If you wouldn't put it on your kid why are you trying to sell it?
Also- If it rains...cover up your stuff with a tarp!!! It's not hard and seriously...noone wants wet books, barbie houses,or wet kitchen stool cushions. Clear tarps are cheap at big lots.
Yeeesh!

A crafter might be interested in the "good" part of the fabric. Why let textiles go to waste if someone might be able to use them?
They SHOULD be in a box marked as such, though ("damaged" or "stained" or something).

At our last yard sale we put out a big box of freebies, including stained clothing. By mid-morning it was all gone, so perhaps it would have sold at a very low price.

Notice to people who shop yard sales: You are under no obligation to stop and shop at mine. If you don't like my stuff, move on. One person's trash is another's treasure - even if it's not YOUR treasure.

I dislike having to sort through everything in so much detail because some things have stains. I'll skip the sale, because it's too much effort on my part and I usually have 3 kids with me. I check things out, but just give it a quick look over and move on, unless I'm finding stains.
If the stained ones are sorted out, no problem. But, most sales seem not to do that and then price things $.50 per item of clothing, so it's the same price for stained or nice. It always makes me feel like they're hoping I miss the stains and buy it anyway, which does happen enough.

When I'm doing a yardsale, if something is stained or damaged, it goes in the freebie pile.

Well EXCUSE ME for having an opinion. I thought this was the bitching post and that I could vent a little. Guess I was wrong and we're only allowed to complain about our families.

I hear ya. But then I never have good luck at yardsales. The one I went to yesterday had so much old weird (and not in a good way) stuff. Full sized troll dolls anyone?

You can, of course. My wordy reply was agreeing with you :). Ignore those who say you should just deal with it or whatever.

Vent away! I didn't mean any offense, I just wanted to point out that some people might accept/buy stained items. I agree that it is annoying to sort through piles of clothing in various conditions. I don't bother to do that at yard sales, either.
