Has anyone bought this yet? What do you think about it? Impressed? Good idea, bad execution? Worth the $150?

There'll be a new baby at our house this spring (my step-daughter-type is pregnant). Mama-to-be wants everything new and top-of-the-line. Father-to-be thinks his "job" is over with now that his "boys" have done their "job". Grand-(and step-grand)-parents to be are all pretty financially strapped. Which means we are all trying to give mama-to-be what she thinks she needs and deserves, without breaking the bank. This 4-in-1 bundle seems like a great idea, definitely fits the budget... but I'm slightly concerned that it's a case of sounds-too-good-to-be true, with a dose of too-many-products-in-one....

I don't have any hands on experience with it, but I did look it over realy good in person as I was thinking of buying it for my nephew. My honest frist impression was that it was cheap- plastic-y. I also could not for the life of me figure out how the high chair tray secures on. I mean, it sat on the arms, but it slid all the way off no problem. I could not find anything that would catch the high chair tray so that it would stay stationary. I honestly was NOT impressed and walked away feeling like I would be much better served buying something else.

Sorry :(

Honestly, I think you could buy a couple items new (bouncy seat?) and the FP Healthy Care Booster seat (all we ever used for a high chair and about $25 - great space saver and liked it WAY better than a regular high chair.

Then it's pretty easy to find excellent used condition swings and such. You'd probably save money and have nicer products.

We'd all love to have brand-new-top-of-the-line products for our babies, but almost everyone soon learns that brand new doesn't equate to higher quality/functionality and it isn't often feasible.

I think I'd pass.

My opinion is this... I really don't see a use for the infant or toddler seat. They don't bounce or anything? The swing, yes, but I want one that plugs in so I don't have to always buy batteries. Is it on her registry by any chance? If so, I would say go for it, but if she has other items in the same category picked out, she just might end up returning this.

I saw this. I might have done some serious thinking about it, but it does like something that might be good to leave at grandma's house as a extra high chair. I could see using the swing and maybe the highchair later on.

I agree that it seemed plasticky to me when I saw it in the store. Not much padding in the seat.

Many things are still great second hand. My baby is currently using my 4 year old's baby gear and it's all in great shape!

If you need new I would suggest:
space saver high chair: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3867646

Infant to Toddler rocker (both my baby and my 4 year old use this, and I get a lot more use out of this than I did a bouncer). Ours can vibrate and play musics. They have also made it to where you can use it as a swing: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Fisher-Price-Smart-Stages-3-in-1-Rocker-Swing-My-Little-Eye-Collection/12960799

We bought one for my mom's house.... It is PERFECT. The infant seat is great for Matthew who hates the bouncy seat- He napped in it with no problem.
It's easy to assemble, and super duper easy to convert!

A PP mentioned the lack of padding- I disagree.... it's got as much padding as a regular swing, high chair or infant seat.

If you need to get some things to keep at a grandparent's house- this is the way to go. Love it.

Shortly after I posted this, grandpa-to-be and I had a heart to heart... Unfortunately, mama-to-be (my 18yo step-daugher-type who still lives at home) won't be liking the end result of the conversation. Since he and I will be buying most everything for this baby, we agreed that we would rather buy many things higher-quality second hand than lesser-quality new... and he's agreed to "take the fall" for it, so that I'm not turned into the evil stepmother :p

It's kind of funny, because, other than toys and carseats, everything I have gotten for La has been largely second-hand. I have no qualms about it at all! But, when it's someone else, I'm always a little more hesitant, because I don't want them thinking "bad" of it... even if its a family member living in our home! LOL

Now off to pull out my BBBook and start perusing Craigslist!

Honestly, when she gets over wanting everything new -- I think she'll be happier this way -- I certainly was. I could get exactly what I wanted used instead of just what was on sale/in the store/etc.

(And I wonder if she would want everything new if it were her own money paying for it!)

On a blog I follow the lady was given this set to review and at first liked it but recently her son fell out of the highchair and had to go to the ER. He wasn't buckled in like he should have been BUT the tray apparently has an issue where it doesn't latch good and will easily fall off if the baby pushes on it. (Even if you do hear it click into place). I was always good about buckling my kids in their highchair but not everyone else was so this would be a concern for me.

This is exactly what I was talking about. I noticed this firsthand in the store. Seemed like a glaring design flaw to me just waiting for a recall. Seriously, do the design engineers have NO children??

This made me LOL in a sad way... I read a book a while ago ("It's No Accident"), and with some of the products, a company rep (can't remember what company, think it was Graco maybe), when in a lawsuit about a product gone wrong, stated "A few of the office girls took it home. Some were married. Some weren't. I have no idea if they had kids. They were asked to put it together and tell us what they thought." Yeah, that's some good product testing there! (This comment was about 10-12 years ago, IIRC.)
