Yes, I put this off until the last minute. DH has an office Holiday party tonight in NYC with his hip hop crowd office. I am so not hip hop. I will be changing after work. It is supposed to be Cocktail attire - dress your best. DH will be wearing khaki pants with a dress shirt...probably french blue. Not exactly hip hop either. I don't think I have anything in my closet that will work for this -- either it is the wrong style or just doesn't fit anymore. I really need to hide my tummy.
So I will be shopping at lunch. I have access to Macys, Ann Taylor Loft, Gap, JC Penney and Kohls. I would probably be more comfortable in pants or leggings, but I would guess that a dress or skirt would be more dressy. I would think that a little bling or sparkle would help. I am 5'7", about 135 lbs with too much tummy. And long waisted. Would love to use what ever I get today for my office holiday party.
Any suggestions?

If you happen to have a BCBG outlet nearby, ours had a HUGE selection of cocktail dresses in a variety of styles. I was able to find a dress for DH's holiday party this past Saturday on Saturday morning.

Going based on your list, here's a cute ATL one:

If those are your choices, I'd hit Macys first, they tend to have a bigger selection and are more fashion forward. Also, if you search the bargain board I posted a link to a printable friends and family coupon, I don't think it's expired.
I would buy a cocktail dress, unless you find some awesome tuxedo pants. And while I was at it I'd by DH a pair of black trousers, but I'm anti-khakis. ;)

Yes to Macy's. Since you're pressed for time, I'd go for a fun black dress and then make it interesting with colorful/sparkly jewelry and shoes.

Me too!
I actually have his clothes in the back of my car. I will check what he has and try to find black ones in the same size. GREAT IDEA!!! Maybe I need to find him a new shirt while I am at it. That would be very funny....Here Hunny, I went shopping for you too. Wear it.

I brought with me to work a pair of Calvin Klein suede pumps that have very high heels. I can't drive in them. I am hoping I can still walk in them LOL I wore them last in January. I may need to look for shoes too...
Have the Macy's Friends and Family coupon - 25 % off, and I joined the Thanks for Sharing program for another 10% off. So I won't feel too guilty. DH loves good shoes. My feet ...not so much.

UPDATE:
DS packed black khaki pants...so I think he is good. It will be dark.
I scored a dress for under $30 (orig. $119) at Macys. Not a whole lot out there for me. Basic black. It has a faux wrap to it, and hides all my faults. Also purchased a big "ruffled" bag. Not exactly an evening clutch, but knowing DS, he will dump everything from his Blackberry to his wallet to his keys on me at the party. At least it is in style. Swung around back to Ann Taylor Loft for a beaded necklace that ties with a satin ribbon. I have my bling. All in all, not a bad shopping trip. Here's hoping with fingers crossed that my shoes fit and my black panty hose doesn't have any runs in it....but I grabbed a few pairs out of the drawer so I should be good.
Thanks for the tips.
