Typing from my phone....

does anyone know what your cervix should feel like at 7-8weeks? Mine is very open and very very soft and rather low. I think I remember it being closed and firm with DD. It also has several 'breaks' (tears) from DD's speedy delivery - 0cm to crowning in 20 minutes. Opinions? (besides see an OB, which i will be doing asap)

Wow. I'm just impressed that you have any idea. I don't know that I've ever felt my cervix on purpose and certainly couldn't give a detailed description of it. I doubt that most people inspect their cervix on a regular basis while pregnant or otherwise.

Really? Prior to DD we used NFP and TTC for a long time so I'm very very used to checking my cervix regularly. I had been checking it prior to POAS thinking my period was coming soon.

OP, count me in the camp of people who never would have thought of checking their cervix or never have done that. So can't help you there, but its news to me that cervix can get tears from delivery. Again sorry if thats something commonly known.

From what I remember the cervix is usually high and should be tight and closed (though having had a vaginal delivery will sometimes change things a bit).

found this on another website

When pregnancy occurs, the cervix will rise up and become soft, yet the os will remain tightly closed. This occurs at different times in different women. Some women may find that twelve days after ovulation their cervix will do this and is a probable pregnancy sign. Others won't experience this until well after the pregnancy has been confirmed.

:yeahthat:
FWIW I did check mine when we were TTC and toward the end of my pregnancy with DS. I could never figure out exactly what I was feeling lol. It was way too hard to tell for me what was "normal" and I imagine that without training it would be difficult for most people.

Don't know the answer, but wanted to let you know that you aren't wierd for checking your cervix :) We had fertility issues, and I became very familiar with how my cervix felt at any given time of my cycle.

Thank you I was starting to think I was a freak! I tracked my cycles for well over 3 years between NFP and TTC so its just second nature to check it once and a while even when I'm not charting.

We use NFP so I understand ;)

It should feel high, soft, and closed. But I think it can take up to 12 weeks for some poeple for that change to occur.

Did Pitocin cause you to dilate from 0-crowning in 20 min. ? That is incredibly fast, and rough on your cervix.

I had been on a pit drip for 4 hrs and had cervidil for roughly 14 hrs but I think what really did it was breaking my water. The doctor broke it about 15 minutes before I started to crown and at that point I was under 1cm dialated. And yeah I don't recommend the speedy route to dialation.

You are not strange.... I always kinda thought I was cause I did/do the same as you do!
