I lurked for a year+ before joining and still feel new, but will never forget some "friends" from here who have left.
Does anyone know kusumat IRL? I wish her the best but still wonder how her story ended.
LizaJane has a friend here still I believe. I thought she would be fun to meet tho:)
Any others?

I still miss lizajane! She was really fun. I think of kusumat too, and wonder what became of her and why she never returned, not even to update us. I hope they're both ok. Punkrockdmama was banned from the boards, I think, but used to be a fun addition.
I haven't seen MarisaSF in a while either, has she been around?

There are a lot I wonder about, including those mentioned. When I joined, there were 2 with kids DS1's age and I always wonder how they're doing. Judegirl and Aliceinwonderland.
Jenjenfirenjen came back for one post this summer, but didn't stay.

Don't answer if it'll stir up trouble, but - what could one do to actually be banned from the boards???
EDIT: nevermind. I did a quick search and found another thread that answered my question.

You've got the Marisas mixed up. I'm friends with MarisaSF on FB. I stayed in touch with the other Marisa (Sophie and Mia's mom) for a while after she left the BBB but have since lost touch. I was wondering how she was doing just the other day.

I am sure there are people who know you and noted your absence. In fact, this potential for hurt feelings is why I never post on these threads about missing members. I have seen many people come and go, some whose personalities I knew via the boards but whose user names never stuck in my mind, some whose names and stories were quite familiar to me.

I'm friends with her IRL. After almost 1 year, all of the allegations were cleared. She & her son are doing very well. I know she lurks some...so she might see this. Otherwise I will let her know people are thinking of her. She sent me here when I had questions & I lurked for a long time. Thanks for being a wealth of knowledge.

Hmmmm... I know a photographer whose name is Rashmi. Coincidence?? And, there's a poster on these boards who I know is a client of hers. That poster doesn't know me, but I recognized her because I used to read my Rashmi's blog and she puts her clients' photos on it and this woman had a very specific story and used her children's names here.

I hope that the old mod Marisa is doing well, I think she was contemplating nursing school.
Jeanne, trumansmom pops in here now and again but she isn't around much and I miss her posts.
Lizajane was not treated nicely before she left and I feel rather sorry that she is gone. When these posts come up she is always mentioned and is much missed.
Sometimes I think of TraciG and just hope things have improved for her.
I assume that some have faded away as their kids get older, like MarisaSF and Kath. I know that had F not come along, I likely would have faded out. So blame him if I bug the hell out of you and thank him if you enjoy my posts. :hysterical:
There are many others I recall and miss their smart and wonderful words.
Also this is not a person, but a thing. I miss all the old cloth diaper addict threads we used to have. The butts forum is not what it was there for awhile.

I also miss a lot of these ladies. Lizajane's DS1 is a lot like mine and is just a bit older, so I really related to her posts about him. I missed the controversy that lead to her exit, but do often wonder as to when it would be time for me to leave BBB. DS is 7, and I have no plans to have another baby. I still hang out here but don't post as much as before.

Not much time to post but I was thinking about some of these posters just recently. I too was worried about Kusumat and TraciG. They both were dealing with difficult situations in their lives. I remember Psophia because she has such a strong opinion about circumcision! Does anyone remember TaraBenet? A wealth of good information. I remember Bisous too, and I think I remember she had her hands full with one baby and one on the way. I totally remember Sheila (punkrockmama) and wish she were allowed back on. I remember a poster named Gatorruth because of her username. ;) She hasn't been here in years. I am always happy to see Stephanie (Hardysmom) who had breast cancer. She always had great insights and was a wealth of info when I was pregnant with the twins. I hope she is still doing well. I love to see GlindaGoodwitch who is freakin hilarious. And I love to see Himom's posts too. She cuts through the bs in a discussion and gets right to the point. She should have been a lawyer. :). Oh, and I totallly miss Lizajane. It was unfortunate that someone insulted her so badly and never apologized. And these ladies are still here though not nearly as often as I'd like: AngelaS, KBecks, SASM, JenaW, MamaKath, Strollerqueen, Megs4413, Koch2.....
I either spend way too much time here or I have a fabulous memory. :waving4:

I sometimes like to think that some posters who are missed lurk without logging in. Maybe they'll see our well wishes. Some names aren't familiar to me (I have a hard time remembering user names) but I do remember LizaJane, and was sad to see her vanish. Tnrnchick hinted she might return, which would be nice. Wasn't Neve's first username NEVEANDTRISTAN? And then she changed it to TWOBUGSANDABEE . . I could be wrong.. but the funny part (to me) is that I would always read her posts and think that she was the type of person meant to have a big family and then wonder why she picked a username with DC1's name in it. She was setting herself up to need to change it!

Oh wow, thanks for the link! Neve was always one of my favorite posters, she lived life the way I'd like to if I had more energy and patience ;)
I kept up with her old blog for a long time and then she stopped posting and I think specifically indicated it would be her last post, I figured she was short on time (she had 5 kids at that point, most recently adding Aynsleigh). It's so exciting to learn that she's added a 6th, wow! She amazes me. Reading her blog will be tonight's guilty pleasure for me :D
ETA: not really a "guilty pleasure", that sounds kind of weird in a perverted way. What I mean is as I read her blog, I'll be thinking of the million other things I should probably be doing. ;)

HELLO Sweet Ladies!!!!
I've missed you! Thank you for swelling my ego so much and making me smile. I'm glad to know that my sad mess of a head has made you all giggle. I'll try to remember that the next time I'm contemplating shaving it and rocking a Sinead.
Not a whole lot of time to spare for the internet these days, but this remains a site with posters who will always be near & dear to my heart. I promise next time I have a beauty disaster, you all will be the first to know. ;)
So thank you for the love note. Right back atcha!!!!
And if you're ever flying internationally out of Newark, look for me onboard. I can easily be recognized by my scary frizzy locks and the BBB breast cancer FairyMade bracelet I make it a point to wear.

I agree, I can't really remember user names, but I tend to remember first names or locations (M from NJ, E from Baltimore, Ashley from FL, etc......), or stories...
I also remember the stories.....when I first started posting, there was someone named with the user name Saartje....she also lived in Chicago (at the time), and then was going through a difficult situation . Anyone know whatever happened to her?
For the first 2 years of motherhood, I freelanced and telecommuted, so I had much more time to be on, read and participate in the discussions.....Now, I work outside the home, and have much less time break time to catch up on a conversation, etc.... I am on for a few weeks, then off, then on, depending on what's going on in my life.....
Two weeks ago, I was in a car accident and now have to get a new minivan. Of course, I ran right away to the computer and logged on to read all the threads....It will come down to what I get a better deal on: a used Ody or Sienna, but it's fun to search all the past discussions

:waving4:
Wow, Lisa, I vote for fabulous memory! I remember most of those people too, but only after seeing their names. There's no way I'd have been able to pull them all up from memory. You really do have excellent recall!
Thank you so much for the kind words (and for remembering me). I definitely got a warm fuzzy and I am very happy to be remembered so nicely! :D
My "baby" who brought me to this board in 2002 is a very tall 2nd grader, who is currently speed-reading his way through the Percy Jackson series during the time he can spare from Mario & Luigi. And my "tiny baby" is a sweetie-pie almost 4 year old who tonight told me I was writing my number 5 incorrectly. They just aren't babies anymore, so I don't have a good excuse to hang out here!
I also made the jump from SAHM to WOHM so I don't have access to my computer as much as I did.
I do miss it here.

I haven't posted in this thread because I'm pretty new, relative to many of you, at least, and there hasn't been much turnover in this crowd yet. I remember a couple of the names that have been mentioned here, but most were before my time. I just wanted to say what a testament it is to this community that this discussion is happening. It is so nice that there are so many positive, encouraging interactions that happen here every single day, to the extent that lives are literally impacted for the better and those friendships are valued for years thereafter. I know I have gotten so much support and guidance from the more seasoned moms here, and I can only hope that I might offer something meaningful to someone else and make an impact as so many others have before me. :grouphug:

I love reading threads like this and (hopefully) getting updates on some the old timers! I don't get time to post as often as I would like, but have generally been reading for a very long time now!
At the same time, these threads make me nervous, because I don't want anyone else to drop off! This is where I've gotten all of the best advice over the last 9 years or so. When something comes up, I often think, I should ask one of the Beths, or I wonder what Katie would do, etc? I only wish that we could all be close friends IRL!

I didn't start posting here on a regular basis until I was pregnant with the baby we lost. So I have only been here just over 2 yrs. . Prior to that I usually just skimmed posts in the car seat board or the stroller forum (which brought me back here.....evil evil stroller forum!). I love this place and it's opened up so many doors for me and turned the light on for many things like extended rear facing.

How fun to read an update on Neve! :D Her babies are all so beautiful! Which one did she have in the bathroom? The littlest girl? THAT was a birth story! :D

I think it was her oldest girl, Bronwyn. And yes, I totally agree - that was a birth story to remember!

There is only one Rashmi! :)

I wonder if trnchick (Parker's mom) is ok after someone from work made some bogus claim to Child Services. There was a ton of bad stuff going on--I just hope she and her little boy are ok.
I am Facebook friends with her but am rarely on FB at all. It's been months. She was going through some really tough times then, but hanging on. She is a strong mama.

:yeahthat: I remember almost everyone mentioned on this thread, but only after reading their names. Like a pp said, some people are easily distinguished by their username, avatar or DC stories. Others are great 'friends' but don't necessarily stick out in any way. I occasionally wonder if anyone would notice if I disappeared. I WOTH FT & can't be bothered to get back on the computer at night so I go in spurts of being on all the time & not being here for weeks on end. There's always something that draws me back & then I have to catch up on all the good stuff!

OK, mystery officially solved. The Rashmi from these boards is indeed the Rashmi I know IRL. What a small world. Anyway, I passed on everyone's well wishes. She wanted me to say hi to everyone from her (but was afraid if she came back she would get sucked in again... and who can blame her, it is very addictive here).

I would definitely remember you. For some reason, I used to get you mixed up with Sarahsthreads. :o But I remember both of you and I didn't list your name in my original post because I do see you on here from time to time, though in spurts as you say. :waving4:

Liza is doing great. I'll pass on to here that she was asked about. I do know that she is on some crafty message boards so if you share the same interest, you might run into her there.

BethAnn31 is another person I miss. Great advice on religion and a resource for parents with older kids as she was a mom with kids with a wide age spread. Saccade, the wittiest knitter on the block. I don't see Saschalicks around anymore either. She is great. Calmegja2 was another awesome poster who faded out as her kids got older. Very wise, kind and funny. And she could THROW DOWN on the more controversial topics. I also remember fondly Rachels and also another person with a short user name and a long siggie that started something like Overachiever, not even pregnant but TTC... but by the time I was here the baby was born and she always posted on feeding threads. Her user name was 3, maybe four characters long. ETA: it was going to drive me nuts, so I did a search. It was sntm, last post in 2009 but she was less active for a long time before that IIRC.

CrayonBlue and BostonMama are back. They used to make the "where are they" threads. It's so nice to have them around more regularly again.
I personally miss Beansmama. Her son was born around the same time as dd1 and I had an imaginary bond with her. :) We spent a lot of time together in "feeding baby" . . . I guess it's Kid Food now.

I'm on another message board with Saschalicks, she wanted me to let you know that she thinks of everyone often, but she has so much going on that it's hard to keep up with it all. She sends her love!

Feeling my "board age," but I remember when I first started browsing the boards, two of the "biggie" posters were Neve and Flagger. I remember following Neve's adption story with a great deal of interest, and do sometimes wonder what became of that great big family she was building.
:yeahthat:
I have advanced BBB-age.

i remember and miss so many of these members, especially Liza. i missed the controversy that caused her to leave but feel terrible about what ever it was because she was always so kind. it was surprising to me when i heard that she left because she wasn't the type to stir up trouble. there are others (no one mentioned in this thread of course) who i felt were asking for it (because they don't understand the BBB atmosphere/community).
i know there are other's who left and who i miss, but i'm not going to start naming them because i have a terrible memory and don't want to name the wrong person (like confusing "tammy" with "tammyruns" or "Melaine" and "Melanie") or leave anyone out.
if any of you are still lurking, :waving4:, we miss you!
