Part of me thinks I should buy the Kindle version of How to Cook Everything and yet another says buy the traditional book format.
Thoughts?

If you someday move on from your Kindle, is there a way to put the book on another device? I just got an ipad and downloaded a couple of free cookbooks. I used it for a recipe yesterday, and it was handy. But a cookbook, unlike a novel, could get a lot of use for many years so I would want to be sure I could keep the book if the Kindle breaks, upgrade, new technology comes out, etc.

Bigpassport, did you find cooking with the ipad convenient? DH would like to get an ipad so that we can cook with it, since I've been using online recipes on my Droid phone. Greasy fingers on a small phone is not so fun.
OP, I enjoy using digital recipes. Except for the screen scrolling I find it so much easier than using traditional cookbooks. I'm a messy cook so my recipes get dirty and worn. But I also like to jot down changes I make to my taste on paper, which may not be doable on digital format.

Pardon me for jumping in, but I use my iPad in the kitchen almost exclusively now. I may put some brackets in a cabinet so I can mount it while I'm using, but for now I use the portfolio style cover I have to prop it upright. Epicurious has a terrific app, as does Allrecipes. Also, any traditional website based recipe site looks fine in Safari. I don't have any Kindle cookbooks yet, but those I could use easily on the iPad. I used to print out a lot of recipes and it has cut down on that clutter in the kitchen.
Still greasy fingers, though. :)

I'm a fan of cookbooks, but my sister showed me a cooking app that she has on her ipad and it's pretty cool. It's called Paprika. You can save recipes from different web sites into the Paprika app or enter your own recipes. It's hard to describe, but it's a very cool app.
Just thought I'd share for any ipad cooks out there!

This is what I need! So maybe DH will finally get his ipad when version 2 comes out. It's just frustrating scrolling through a tiny little screen looking at recipes when I have butter or meat juice all over my hands. At least with ipad I'll scroll 1/3 of the time. :) I think finding a way to mount the ipad to the wall would be great too.
Thanks Naranjadia!
