Need a hotel suggestion for one night in dc. Prefer not tooo pricey since its just one night and we'll be having dinner in dc.

Outlying areas are ok too on a metro stop.

I always use Priceline when staying in DC. I usually save at least 1/2 on the AAA rate. The hotels we have won on Capital Hill/Convention Center have been the Courtyard Marriot on F St NW & Residence Inn on E St SE (free hot breakfast there & easy on street parking on w/e).

My favorite is the Hilton Garden Inn in Arlington at the Courthouse Metro station. Clean, comfortable, things to walk to (including the Metro), quiet. Do not stay at the Hotel Palomar in Dupont Circle unless you are a very heavy sleeper!! Watch parking rates as well. The Hilton that I like was (is?) half the price of parking downtown and that can be a big difference. Some hotels charge $35/ night so while the room price might be ok you have to add that on. The Grand Hyatt downtown took forever to get our car on check out because it is a huge hotel.

Hmmm, trying to remember...DC mamas may be able to help me...but is there a metro station in Alexandria? I believe I remember there being one right across from the Westin...and the hotel was lovely! And about $100 a night.

The St. Gregory in Dupont Circle!! Close to the Metro, in a cute neighborhood, and about $125 a night.
